DEVELOPING STATE OF THE ART SIMULATION

Our simulation labs offer innovative applications for practice, education and research. Students learn nursing skills in a controlled simulated environment before applying them on patients in a clinical setting. Our faculty are actively engaged in research and looking at new and innovative ways to improve nursing education and health care in general.

Students have the opportunity to work with faculty who are developing and testing innovative teaching tools, such as an avatar-based simulation for pediatric pain management, and in the development of new human surrogate technology that aims to improve the simulated patient interactions that are used to teach nurses and other health care professionals by adding emotion and personal touch.

SERVING 16 CENTRAL FLORIDA COMMUNITIES

Our nursing students are in the community helping to prevent disease by applying their classroom knowledge with health screenings, teaching wellness, and implementing community service projects that empower community members to make healthier choices.

Each year our students and their clinical instructors, provide more than 46,000 nursing interactions in culturally diverse, medically- disadvantaged communities.

The service-learning curriculum is delivered through 16 regional Community Nursing Coalitions across five Central Florida counties. These CNCs partner with

non-profit organizations and other public agencies to provide these services to the most needy residents within their assigned communities.
