A little update on the Elder's program:
We had a catering gig this past Monday for Trust.
Thank you Mary H. for helping me cook. Thursday
we had a treat and went out for lunch. We had a great
turn out of 17! Yay!
We will be having another luncheon this coming
Monday the 24th. I will send out reminders the
morning of.
We have 19 elders signed up for the Christmas trip.
Please let me know asap if you wish to come along.
We have rescheduled the trip to Dec. 9th & 10th.
Please mark that down.

indoor futsal soccer tournament held on the
6th and 7th of December 2014.
The entrance fee is $150.00 due upon your
first game.

We have been fortunate to have Dr. Reynolds come by our office twice this year. He is an
endocrinologist – a doctor who diagnoses diseases related to the glands – but he is more than
that. Some of the diseases and conditions he can see our people for include:
Diabetes

Educational Assistant / Community Support, Indigenous Focus Certificate
Where: Mount Waddington
Starts: September 2015
As specialized education assistants or community support workers, graduates bring unique skills and training to the
workplace and help mediate Aboriginal cultural and curricular content.
Acquire the skills needed to work in schools, outreach programs, and community support agencies. Develop
enhanced communication skills, conflict resolution, and greater self-awareness.
Designed for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal learners.
Career possibilities: Graduates are prepared for valuable careers as support workers in group homes, employment
agencies, First Nations community organizations, and other human service agencies. They are also prepared for positions
as education assistants, working under the direction of teachers and providing classroom support.
Admission Requirements for the upcoming 2015/16 Academic Year as follows:
1. C+ in one of Provincial English 12, NIC ENG 060, ENG 096, ENG 098, ESL 090, or equivalent; or English
assessment.
2. Completed 20 hours volunteer work and HSW Professional Reference Form.
3. Signed Human Services Requisite Skills and Abilities document.
4. 300 word HSW Letter of Intent coming into the program and career goals.

As a Child Protection Worker, through
assessment and collaboration you develop plans
with families to ensure the safety of children
and youth. Your skill set will include
interviewing clients, evaluating vulnerability
factors, validating the child welfare reports and
determining a plan of action including family
support services. The client group includes
working with aboriginal families. Caring and
level headed, you counsel families, fulfill the
role of guardian and coordinate and consult
with other service providers in a
multidisciplinary team environment. You will
be working in an integrated office environment.
Demonstrating strong organizational skills, you
prepare documentation for court, file
documents and ensure legislative requirements
are addressed, as well as timelines for serving
notice follow the Rules of the Court. You work
with and prepare clients for court by explaining
the purpose, ensuring the client has access to
legal counsel, informing the client of other
witnesses and explaining expected court
behaviour and appearance. The ideal candidate
for this key role will have experience delivering
services in small, rural communities. If you
have previous experience in Child Protection
