  • Delaware County Community CollegeEducational Foundation's primary mission isto support students. The Foundation'scommitment to student success is evidentfrom the many scholarships and awardsdescribed in these pages. Eligibility criteriaare established by the donors themselves.While academic merit and financial need arethe most common criteria, other factorsfrequently considered are academic major,geographical location or specialcircumstances, such as “mature women” or“part-time students.” All students areencouraged to review eligibility requirementsand to apply as directed. The Foundation also provides awards for

    faculty, alumni, students and staff membersbased on teaching performance, professionalaccomplishments, academic achievementsand other measures.

    OpportunityAnyone may establish a scholarship or award orcontribute to an existing fund by making a gift to the Educational Foundation. Gifts of all amounts arewelcome. Newly established scholarships and awardsmay be named for the donor, such as a corporation or individual, or in memory of or in honor of a loved one. All contributions are placed into restricted accounts

    and used exclusively for the designated scholarship or award. Scholarships are credited to the recipients'accounts for tuition or books. Awards are presented at various times, as dictated by the nature of the award.

  • Donors can establish a scholarship or award thatwill exist in perpetuity with a minimumcontribution of $10,000. The interest generated onthe principal of the fund is awarded annually. Theoriginal gift is preserved for future generations.Endowed scholarships and awards are a vital part ofthe College's endowment which is managed byprofessional portfolio managers with oversight bythe Foundation's Finance Committee.

  • Students are encouraged to apply for the scholarships set forth in this brochure. To apply, refer to the eligibility criteriaand application instructions. The application cycle begins in February and ends in April. Information about theapplication cycle is on the College website (www.dccc.edu)for new students and in the student portal delaGATE forcurrent students. Scholarships are awarded in late spring and early summer. Students are notified in writing if selectedand the awards are credited to their accounts prior to the start of fall semester, unless otherwise noted.

    Students applying for scholarships must file the FAFSA(Free Application for Federal Student Aid) availableonline at www.dccc.edu, in the Financial Aid officeand in area libraries.

  • The Foundation’s annual dinner honors the more than 100 scholarship donors and 200 student recipients. Donors are recognized for their generosity and students for theiraccomplishments. The keynote address was delivered by alumna, Denise

    Romanelli, who also received the Wong Moss OutstandingAlumni Award from John Moss. Aside from honoring alumniwho are accomplished in their careers, the award focuses oncommunity service. Romanelli’s influence at Sun East FederalCredit Union helped to transform the culture at the company to one of service and earned her the 2004 Year Pinnacle Award.Her message to the audience at the dinner offeredencouragement and inspiration, particularly to students.
