UNITED ARTS CAMPAIGNCONNECTING OUR COMMUNITYArt creates a vibrant community, drives the local economy, educates our children and makes us more creative and collaborative citizens. The Greater Hartford Arts Council’s annual United Arts Campaign helps keep the arts alive, supporting and safeguarding this crucial community asset.

Through the generosity of United Arts investors—corporations and small businesses, foundations, local and state government and individual arts enthusiasts—the Arts Council provides grants and services to more than 150 local arts, heritage and cultural organizations across a 34-town service area in Greater Hartford. Your support fuels artistic excellence and creative innovation, making our cities and towns wonderful places to live, work and visit.

The bulk of every donation—more than 80 cents of every dollar—fuel the Arts Council’s grant programs, arts education inititatives, advocacy and range of services. The rest of the money is invested towards reaching new supporters of the arts.

GRANTS & PROGRAMSA BALANCED APPROACHMore than half of the dollars raised through this year’s campaign are distributed in direct grants that provide operating and project support, as well as funding for community events, public art and arts education. The Arts Council remains one of the few remaining sources of operating support—critical funding that’s often the most difficult to find.

This holistic investment strategy supports artists and arts, cultural and heritage organizations of all shapes and sizes and the events, concerts, exhibits and performances that make Greater Hartford a must-be destination.

A SMART INVESTMENTThe Arts Council takes seriously its role in safeguarding your contributions. Each organization must submit a detailed application for grant support and provide a final report on how your dollars are spent. A panel of community volunteers reviews each application and makes an allocations recommendation to the Board of Directors for final approval.

Feel good knowing that your donations are going to those organizations that demonstrate real community impact and create artistic programs of the highest possible caliber.
