July 2013
So what will the weather be like this summer? So far with the rain w
have had along with the warm weather all the plants, flowers, and t
are lush. We are very fortunate to live in the Midwest because we h
a valuable commodity-water. These few sentences should lead into
something but only in that we had to cancel one event (May Cruise
Night). Hopefully the others will occur as planned along with our g
outing and the newest event in September the Lisle Ale Fest.
This Chamber managed event will be held on September 28th from 4-8pm in downt
Lisle on the Village Green (Northeast Corner of Burlington and Main Sts.) The Lis
Ale Fest will be the first ever in our community. Tickets will be $40 and will entitle
bearer of the ticket to 18 -3oz tastes of craft beer. There will be 40 craft breweries r
resented each serving two beers.
This is an exciting new venture for us and it will require a lot of volunteers. Look f
more information about how to obtain tickets and how you can volunteer. We will b
asking our service organizations to provide volunteers as well. There will be food v
dors on site and Blues music for entertainment.
Before that exciting fall event we want to remind you to attend the Lisle Eyes to theSkies Festival. The fest will take place from July 3rd 6th at Lisle Community Par
you able to volunteer we need your help. The hours accumulated are used to give o
share of any proceeds to the Chamber Scholarship program. It is one of the ways w
give back.
Finally, we are watching the progress of recovery of the businesses affected by the
April flood. We helped the village host a Flood Expo to make connections between
victims and contractors who do repairs. We continue to host a coalition of service c
to assist those in need as well. It will take some time but we have a very resilient co
munity.
Best wishes for Independence Day. We truly are the greatest country in the world.

Happy Birthday America!!! Would you believe, half the year haspassed already, but Im loving summer because we are at the tippinpoint where as much happens outdoors as in. Our first 2013 new
member orientation took place at the Hilton on June 4. This was avery well-attended event by new members, Ambassadors and seveBoard members. Weather was very pleasant for the GC Realty Ribbon Cutting held both outside and inside on June 13 with an amazigroup of attendees enjoying an astonishing array of appetizers, san
wiches, beverages and desserts.
Thanks to the Museums of Lisle Station Park for hosting a BusinesAfter Hours on June 19 that included an historical tour of the complex and sumptuous treaafterwards. This function was immediately followed by a multi-chamber event at the Du-Page County Hounds on June 20, however, our Chamber attendance was not at its best anwould encourage you to commit to supporting this local team at the Benedictine Universit
Sports Complex.
June was indeed busy and also included the Trash and Treasures community garage sale oJune 22; thanks to Jill Eidukas for promoting booth spaces and enduring the onslaught ofrain at the days beginning. Another ribbon cutting on June 27 was held at Villa St. Benedict, where we were challenged to encourage at least ten new individuals to visit and pur-
chase one of their villas. Now theres a commitment!
The Board of Directors officially confirmed a contract between the Lisle Area Chamber oCommerce and LouDog Events to host Alefest, 4:00 8:00pm, Saturday, September28,downtown Lisle on the old Village Hall site at Burlington and Main. The event theme
Beer, Barbecue and Blues we will keep you updated as details evolve.
Regretfully, I have received a resignation letter from Board Member, Joseph Straka, who retiring from Pact. We will miss his integrity in making sound Board decisions. Good
wishes to Joe from all of us!
Since the last newsletter, new members welcomed into our Chamber were Victory Rehab,Holistic Health Care Centers, Integrity Designs LLC and CrossFit Amplify we look for-ward to their enthusiasm and commitment to the betterment of Lisle.
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra performing at the Morton Arboretum recently was anoutstanding program of world-renowned symphonic music. Should this program continuein years to come, I strongly suggest you commit to attend this venue and experience the
transformative power of music!
The combination of a strong, positive commitment to self and to a set of principles servesa foundation to effectively achieve the most important goals. Your Board of Directors cotinue to Build a Foundation of Commitment to its membership with open communicatioof our needs and expectations. Make it your ongoing commitment to become involved inannounced activities that provide networking opportunities: Eyes to the Skies, July 3 6,including the parade from Lisle Jr High through downtown Lisle on the Fourth Of July, folowed by a free picnic on the grounds of the Museum of Lisle Station Park; annual golf ou
ing at Seven Bridges on July 23 rd and another Cruise Night downtown Lisle on July 27 th.

Trash & Treasures celebrated its 20th year at the Lisle Commuter Parking
Lot. The set-up hours were a bit rainy, but die hard vendors were prepared
with rain gear and canopies. Some vendors chose to leave soon after arriv-
ing during the rain storm and did return a few hours later to set up at open-
ing time. Many vendors were very happy to attend and reported that they
even made some extra summer cash. The event also brings more people to
the French Market which is at the commuter parking lot every Saturday
through October from 8:00 am1:00 pm.
Villa St. Benedict hosted a Ribbon Cutting at one of their senior independent vi
homes. Villa St. Benedict is a Catholic independent senior community with many
