Brothers & Sisters in Christ, Saint Timothy Lutheran Church is still in the middle of our 50 th anniversary year celebrations as an organized congregation. Sunday, August 11, 2013, marks the 50 th anniversary of the groundbreaking for the church building that we use each week to worship the Lord Jesus Christ in. Imagine, just 3 short months after the founders held the 1 st worship service, they were starting the process of firmly establishing Saint Timothy’s physical presence in this area of the Lord’s mission field of souls to be harvested for the kingdom of God. And then just a little more then a year later, our worship center was dedicated on June 14, 1964. Almighty God has certainly blessed and watched over this congregation for the past 50 years. The church building itself was spared destruction when an arsonist was burning Lutheran churches in the late 1980‘s or early 1990‘s. And none of the tall trees that had been around the church building ever came down on it either. It might be interesting to know just how many baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals/memorials, installations, and other official acts have taken place here at Saint Timothy during the past 50 years. The exact numbers, though, aren’t the important thing. Rather, we thank the Lord for His many blessings and for the faithfulness of the disciples of Jesus Christ (including us today) in making disciples for Jesus by baptizing individuals in the name of the Triune God and teaching everyone we can the things that Jesus taught. As I mentioned in the last newsletter, “the question before us now is simple, but not always easy to fully answer: now what?” [Not “not what?” like my typo suggested last month.] “Of course, there are some basics that should not change. We must be faithful to the Word of God. We must continue to gather together around God’s Word and Sacrament on a regular basis. We must keep on praying. And we must persist to proclaim the Good News of God’s love, mercy, and forgiveness through His Son Jesus Christ.” “But how do we see these things being accomplished here at Saint Timothy in the years that are before us? Where do we go from here? Following the lead of those who first came together here 50 years ago, it would seem good for us as a congregation to meet together and talk about our future goals and vision, and how we might get there with the Lord’s help.” July has been a very busy month for the street west of the church building. As I’ve watched the transformation of the church grounds and 52 nd Avenue W, it strikes me that once the roadwork in completed, and people and cars are using the street again, many people might be seeing Saint Timothy church and grounds in a whole new light. Maybe we can use that to the advantage of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For instance, a new church sign might do wonders in our continuing to share the love of God for all people through Jesus Christ. In all that we do, “may the Holy Spirit guide and direct each of our efforts for Jesus’ sake and for the salvation of souls for whom Jesus died!” May the love of the Lord Jesus always be in your hearts! Brothers  &  Sisters  in  Christ,        Saint  Timothy  Lutheran  Church  is  still  in  the  middle  of  our  50th  anniversary  year  celebrations  as  an  organized  congregation.    Sunday,  August  11,  2013,  marks  the  50th  anniversary  of  the  groundbreaking  for  the  church  building  that  we  use  each  week  to  worship  the  Lord  Jesus  Christ  in.          Imagine,  just  3  short  months  after  the  founders  held  the  1st  worship  service,  they  were  starting  the  process  of  firmly  establishing  Saint  Timothy’s  physical  presence  in  this  area  of  the  Lord’s  mission  field  of  souls  to  be  harvested  for  the  kingdom  of  God. As  I’ve  watched  the  transformation  of  the  church  grounds  and  52nd  Avenue  W,  it  strikes  me  that  once  the  roadwork  in  completed,  and  people  and  cars  are  using  the  street  again,  many  people  might  be  seeing  Saint  Timothy  church  and  grounds  in  a  whole  new  light. Richard  E.  Flath

AUGUST  2013  A.D.  –  THOUGHTS  FROM  THE  PASTOR

50th Anniversary Celebration

During  the  summer  months  attendance  and  activities  at  Saint  Timothy’s  typically  drop  but  our  50th  Anniversary  Celebration  continues.    The  outside  appearance  of  our  church  is  undergoing  some  dramatic  changes  with  the  road  widening  of  52nd  Ave  West,  the  removal  of  several  trees,  the  relocation  of  our  church  sign,  and  the  consideration  of  getting  a  new  sign.    As  we  look  into  the  fall  activities,  three  events  are  in  the  planning  stage:    1. Saturday,  September  28th,  Oktoberfest  with  the  Bavarian  Village  Band.  2. Sunday,  October  6th,  worship  service  with  Rev.  Paul  Linnemann,  NW  District  President.

3. Mid-‐week  in  October,  an  evening  with  a  guest  speaker  talking  about  Money  Matters.    Date  to  be  determined.

These  events  will  present  great  opportunities  to  invite  friends,  un-‐churched  friends  and  acquaintances  including  friends  from  our  circuit  congregations.  The  men’s  group  of  Saint  Timothy  plans  to  sponsor  the  Money  Matters  evening.    It  will  not  promote  any  kind  of  product  or  service  but  will  be  designed  to  give  current  information,  to  be  educational,  and  to  give  opportunity  to  fellowship.      As  mentioned  here  earlier,  several  former  pastors  of  Saint  Timothy  sent  us  letters  of  greetings  which  are  being  published  one  by  one  in  our  monthly  newsletters.  This  August  Newsletter  includes  a  letter  from  Rev.  Craig  Patterson  who  served  us  as  Intentional  Interim  Pastor  in  2010.      Karl  Simon,  Elder  50th  Anniversary  Focal
