Our VisionA world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our MissionSeeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Dear Friends,I’m so excited and proud to bring you Habitat for Humanity Prince William County’s Annual Report for fiscal year 2013. We have had such a tremendous year and this report provides a snapshot of the highlights and accomplishments.

The first and most important item from fiscal year 2013 (July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013) is that we partnered with our 12th, 13th and 14th homeowners! Habitat for Humanity is driven by helping low-income residents of our community become homeowners and with the support of sponsors, donors and an army of volunteers, we were able to move three new homeowners into beautiful homes that were rehabbed in partnership with the families themselves.

Our 12th homeowners were the Reidl family of Haymarket. Laura Riedl, a single mother of three, applied for a three bedroom home on Rising Sun Lane in Haymarket. After an extensive rehab with nearly 100 volunteers donating 1,100 hours of labor over three months, Laura and her family moved into their home in August of 2012.

Our 13th homeowners, the Islam-Khatoon family, moved into their three bedroom home in November of 2012 after 72 volunteers donated more than 772 hours to rehab a foreclosed townhome on Traverser Court in Woodbridge. This hard working family came to America from Bangladesh to provide better educational opportunities for their children – two of whom are now college students.

We finished the rehab of our 14th home with Larry Young and Eva Tejada who moved into their three bedroom single family home in Manassas in May of 2013 (the closing took place in July of fiscal year 2014). This loving couple was thrilled to have a home of their own in which to raise their beautiful 5-year-old daughter.

These are the stories of Habitat. With the help of volunteers, donors and sponsors

we are able to write these stories every year and hopefully provide a meaningful chapter in the lives of our family partners.

Other big news from 2013 included changing our name to Habitat for Humanity Prince William County and moving the affiliate staff out of the ReStore and into the office building directly behind the ReStore, allowing for more retail floor space in the ReStore.

We are excited about the upcoming year—2014 marks our 20th anniversary! We look forward to celebrating our 20th anniversary and the ReStore’s 10th anniversary with you throughout the year.

On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, I want to thank you for your steadfast support throughout 2013. I truly believe that when people work together in partnership to help others amazing things can happen.

Sincerely,

Traci DeGroatPresident/CEO

Habitat volunteers spent several Saturdays cleaning graffiti in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. Community beautification is an integral part of our Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, which helps us renew entire communities house by house, block by block and neighborhood by neighborhood.

LaToya and her 7-year-old son live in a Woodbridge townhome that she purchased after living in transitional housing. She works full-time but earns less than 60% of the area median income and was not able to afford needed home repairs. She worked with Habitat to replace her kitchen faucet, make fence repairs, remove unused exterior wires and install attic insulation. Siding and trim damaged by Hurricane Sandy were also repaired. LaToya is pictured on the left with her sister and father who also provided sweat equity to help with repairs. She was very grateful for the hand-up from Habitat.
