Why Health and Safety?
The chief goal of the occupational health and
Safety program is to prevent Occupational injuries
and illness by anticipating, recognizing, evaluat-

Hazards.
The program is guided by a number of prescripts
but the main one being the OHS Act no. 85 of
1993
Whose responsibility?
The OHS Team consists of Health and Safety Pro-
fessional, Occupational Health Nurse, Occupation-
al Medicine Physician, the Employees, Senior and
Line Management, and others coopted as per
need of the facility.
All members must act in concert to provide infor-
mation and activities supporting the other parts to
achieve the overall goal of healthy and safe work
environment. The separate functions of the team
members are administratively linked to effect a
successful and smoothly run program. But the
most vital component of an effective Program is
the Senior and Line Management Commitment.
Looking at the previous year.
