PACE WBC is in its 8th year as an SBA Women’s Business Center. The mission of PACE WBC is to advance the economic wealth of women through delivering quality programs that build successful businesses and promote asset accumu-lation. PACE WBC’s programs and services are designed to provide motivated enterpreneurs and small business owners with access to resources, training, capital, and support to advance them to the next level of success.
PACE is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) community development corporation founded in 1976. Over the past 36 years PACE has provided assistance to more than 800,000 low-income, ethnic minority residents of the Los Angeles area. PACE provides individuals and families with the tools and opportunities to enable them to become economically self sufficient. Today PACE’s scope of services includes workforce development, business development, financial education and asset building, environmental services, early childhood education, afford-able housing and home repair services. Due to limited space, it is MANDATORY to RSVP for all of our workshops, trainings, and courses. Please select one of the following 4 ways to enroll:
1. Preferred Method: You can visit www.pacelabdc.org, go to the calendar, find the start date of the event you would like to register for, and fill out theregistration form. If there is a course fee you willbe directed to a PayPal page. It is not mandatoryto pay by PayPal, but priority will be given to thosewho register and pay for classes in advance.
2. You can call our office at (213) 353-9400 and give the name of the workshop or course you would like to enroll in and you will be directed to the appropriate coordinator.
3. You can also email our receptionist at Zoraida Cruz at [email protected]. Please put the name of the workshop or course you want in the subject line. The appropriate coordinator will get back to you.
4. Lastly you can come to our office during regular office hours (M-F 8:30am-5:00pm) to pay for and enroll in courses/workshops.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
Depending on the course you are enrolling in, onceyou submit your initial registration you may beasked to fill out additional enrollment paperworkand to provide copies of certain documentation(e.g., a copy of your Drivers License or CaliforniaID, verification of your address and personal orhousehold income, business licenses if applicable).All of this information is kept confidential and isonly used so that we can meet our own fundingrequirements. We thank you in advance for yourcooperation.
PAYMENT POLICY
We require that course payments are made infull by the date of the first class. To secure your
place in the class we recommend that you pay inadvance as priority will be given to those whohave prepaid. Special considerations can bemade for those in need – if this fits your situationplease feel free to discuss the options with thecoordinator in charge of the course you would like to enroll in. Payments can be made when you enrollonline (www.pacelabdc.org). Checks made out to “PACE” can be mailed or dropped off at the office(1055 Wilshire Blvd, Ste 900B, Los Angeles, CA90017). Please make sure to note which courseyou are paying for on your check memo line andrefrain from mailing cash.
REFUND POLICY
1. For courses that have more than one sessionthe refund must be requested in writing beforethe third class session. If a full refund is requestedany course materials given must be returned,otherwise there is a cancellation fee of up to 50% the cost of the class.
2. For single session workshops the fee will berefunded if the individual did not attend theworkshop and requests the refund in writing 5days prior to the beginning of the workshop.
PARKING & LOCATION INFORMATION
Unless otherwise stated, all workshops will beheld at PACE’s Downtown LA office: Parking forworkshops WILL NOT be validated so pleasenote the parking fees in the area. Parking inthe building is $1.75 for every 15 minutes with a $14maximum. There are also several lots surroundingthe building that are $5 – Modern Parking and Joe’s Auto Parts (both on Bixel St. between 6th & Wilshire). Metered street parking is also available and free after 6 PM.

BUSINESS START-UP ORIENTATIONPACE WBC hosts a Business Start-up Orientation twice per month for anyone who is interested in starting a business and needs some assistance. This is a great opportunity to find outwhat it takes to be an entrepreneur, what typeof licenses and permits are required, and whatitems you need to prepare in advance in order toget started. You will become familiar with all ofthe services that PACE offers, learn what pitfallsto avoid, and find out what business owners need toknow before they begin spending money in theirbusiness. You will be able to provide answers toquestions such as, is this idea feasible? No secondguessing! Come in and have all of your questionsanswered at the Orientation at no cost. ONE-ON-ONE COUNSELINGMeet with one of our experienced business counselors in order to assess your most pressingbusiness needs. Whether you need a loan or help writing a business plan, our staff will sit down with you to discuss how we can tailor our services to meet your needs.
MICROTEAM CONSULTINGIn addition to our own team of BDC consultants,we also have recruited a pool of talented andknowledgeable business experts that can meetwith you to help you with a variety of businessissues. We have consultants that specialize inthe following areas: business plan development,feasibility assessment, strategic planning, marketanalysis, advertising and promotions, sales, websitesand internet marketing, cash flow planning, costanalysis and pricing, taxes and accounting.

PACE BDC MEMBERSHIP
The PACE BDC Membership provides a 50% discount to anyone interested in taking several classes or workshops.
HOW DO I QUALIFY?You must be a business owner that has been in business for at least 6 months with a minimum annual revenue of $2,500. Qualified business owners must register for any classes/workshops in advance. Members will receive a 50% discount on the first registered class as well as future classes for a period of one year.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?Potential members should register at least 5 days prior to the start of their selected class by calling us at (213) 353-9400. We will need proof thatyour business has been in operation. To satisfythis request, please provide one (1) of the following documents:

HOW DO I RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP?Renewing your membership is very easy. Allyou need is to contact and schedule a meetingwith your Business Counselor who can assist you in completing a renewal form. You will need to bring in a copy of your updated Business License, or your most recent business tax return.

CREDIT & HOMEOWNERSHIP COUNSELING
Credit Counseling:PACE BDC recognizes the importance that creditplays in the lives of our clients and the frustrationof trying to understand it. We are here to help youdemystify the world of credit. In order to receivefree one-on-one credit counseling we require thatindividuals first attend the 2 hour introductoryworkshop, Your Credit Score, where you will learnthe basics about credit and credit repair. In theworkshop, you will also learn about our IndividualDevelopment Account (IDA) Program can help you to establish or rebuild your credit score.
Homeownership Counseling:Homeownership is an important goal for many of the individuals and families in our community. To help individuals and families achieve this goal, PACE BDC offers Homeownership Counseling to help assessyour financial situation and set a plan topurchase a home. In the counseling session(s),your counselor will conduct an assessment of yourfinancial situation and evaluate your finances for ahome purchase and make a referral to agency/banks/broker/non-profit organizations that canassist you in the process. Our counselors can alsohelp you to understand credit, pros and cons ofhomeownership, mortgage loans, governmentassistance programs, shopping for a home, andmanaging your finances to keep your home.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program:PACE BDC offers free tax preparation assistance tolow-and moderate-income individuals and families,and helps qualifying taxpayers to claim EarnedIncome Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credits, othercredits and refunds. During our VITA Programwe encourage “unbanked” participants to opena bank account and teach them the benefits ofbuilding a relationship with a financial institution. We also assist participants in setting up Direct De-posit services for faster access to their tax refunds and credits. Finally, we help business owners (sole proprietors) in filing their Schedule C andSchedule C-EZ. BUSINESS LOANS & FINANCING
PACE SBA Microloan Program:PACE offers Microloans to qualified small businessowners in need of working capital. Qualified applicants may receive loans of $500 to $150,000 to start-up or expand their business at an interest rate of 7.75%. The loan term ranges from 12 to 60 months with no penalties for prepayment of a loan. SBA Financing Programs:The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)provides a number of financial assistanceprograms for small businesses. PACE business counselor are trained to help you navigate through these programs to find the right one for you and to assist you with the application process. This series of 3 courses focuses on Marketing, Finance and Business Plan Essentials and is an intensive business development seminar for entrepreneurs who have successfully completed the Entrepreneur Training Program (ETP), or business owners, with one year of successful operations, who want to expand their business to a greater level of success. This is an interactive and participatory seminar focused on real world business needs. You can choose to register for all three seminars or pick and choose.
Marketing Essentials is about helping business owners and entrepreneurs understand the core elements of the marketing mix - your customer, your marketplace, your product or service - and how to effectively deliver the right message to your target audience at the appropriate time. This workshop will give business owners an overview of federal tax rules and requirements related to operating a small business. The focus is on understanding what is legally required while also learning how to minimize tax obligations. Participants will also learn how to incorporate tax planning into their business operations in order to minimize their tax burdens.

This Quickbooks training class covers advanced features of QuickBooks 2011. Students will learn how to customize forms, create reports and graphs, track and pay sales tax, handle payroll, set up and use QuickBooks Pro and Premier with multiple users on a network, find and fix the most common mistakes, handle “tricky” situations including NSF checks, customer deposits, enter special transactions including debts, petty cash transactions, automatic bank transactions and online banking, learn advanced reporting techniques and integration with

Facts about credit, why credit scores matter, who reports credit scores, how credit scores are calculated, how long information remains on the report, improving your credit score, credit repair myth and mistakes, correcting credit report errors, negotiating with creditors and collection agencies, knowing your rights (FCRA, and FDCPA), defending yourself against identity theft, and opt-out information.

COURSE CONTENT INCLUDES:
Credit scores are handy for lenders, but they can have considerable impact on your wallet, your future and your peace of mind. This workshop will provide a detailed look into credit reports; tools for participants to communicate with credit bureaus, creditors, and collection agencies to fix reports correctly and legally; and information to understand laws and regulations to protect their wallet. Individuals that attend this work-shop have access to a 2-hour, 1-on-1 credit counseling session with our counselors to go over their personal credit report and create an action plan for improving their credit.
