    Basic Setup Your new Martin bow takes little setup to get started shooting. Please read and

    familiarize yourself with these starting procedures before shooting. Many of these

    procedures may have been completed by your authorized Martin dealer. After

    completingthesesimplesteps,youwillbemoreaccurateandwillhavegreatersuccess

    fromthestart.Acarefulandthoroughinitialsetupwillmakethetuningprocessmucheasier.

    QuickArrowRestandNockPlacement You can quickly and easily set the position of your rest

    andnockpointusingtherestmountholesinyourbow.Your

    restshouldsitlevelwiththetworestmountholes,orlock

    mountofyourbow.(Seegraphic)Whentherestplacement

    iscorrect,youcanbeginplacingthenockset.Placeanock

    looselyonthestringandnockanarrow.Visuallyalignthe

    arrowlevelwithorslightlytailhighoftherestmount holes.

    When the correctheightisset,crimpthenocksetintoplace.

    Thiswillgiveyouagoodstartingpointtobegintuningyourbow.

    MeasuringDrawLength Whenyourbowisatfulldraw,theapexof

    thestringshouldbenearthecornerofyour

    mouth.

    Drawlengthcaneasilybemeasuredfromthe

    apexofthestringatfulldrawtothepivotpointofthegrip.From that measurement add 1

    and you will have the A.M.O. standard draw

    length.AllMartinBowsareadjustablewiththe

    useofmodules.Refertothesectionthatcov -

    ersyourspeciccamstyleforinstructionson

    adjustingdrawlength.

    ArrowSpeedandStringAccessories

    CertainbowstringaccessoriesincludingD-loops,stringsilencers,andpeepsights,canreducearrowspeedbyasmuch10-15fps.

    ChangingDrawWeight Martinbowshaveafteenpounddrawweightrange.Usinga3/16allenwrench;you

    willturnthelimbboltsclockwisetoaddweightandturncounterclockwisetoreduceweight.

    Onecompleteturnoneachlimbboltprovidesabout3poundsofadjustment.

    TIP:Markalineoneachlimbboltinwhite-outorwhitepaintmarkertomakeiteasierto

    keeptrackofhowfaryouareturningeachbolt.Note: Do not shoot your bow with the limb bolts more than 5 turns out from the riser.

    ReplacingTheStrings Shouldyourstringneedreplacing,itisbesttogotoyourMartindealerandhaveitdone

    byexperts.Alwaysbesurethatthestringyoureplaceitwithisofthecorrectlengthand

    materialforyourbow.WerecommendusingMartinHammerheadbowstrings.Stringwear

    isnotcoveredbywarranty.

    Basic Setup

    CareAndStorage Whenproperlycaredfor,yournewMartinbowwillgiveyouyearsoftrouble-freeservice.

    Whenyourbowisnewitwillrequirenolubrication.Overtimeyoumayneedtolubricateyour

    camstoguardagainstfrictionandnoise.UseadrylubricationsuchasTeonspraypowder

    orgraphitepowder.YoucanalsousewetlubesuchasMolyLubeorTri-Flow.DonotuseWD-40lubrication.

    Agoodruleofthumbwhencaringforyourbowistokeepitascomfortableasyouare.If

    itistoohotforyou,itistoohotforyourbow.Ifitgetswet,dryitoffcompletely.Periodically

    cleanyourbowwithawetragandmildsoaptoremovemudordust(caution:donotstore

    untilcompletelydry).Prolongedexposuretoextremeheatmaycausefailureinyourbow

    limbsandexcessivestretchinyourstringsystem.Itwillnothurtyourbowifitisrainedon

    whileshooting,butmakesureitiscompletelydrybeforestoringitinabowcasetoguard

    againstrustorcorrosion.

    InstallingandAdjustingtheDrawStop. There are a total of four parts to the Draw Stop

    assembly.Arubbercap,thealuminumbodyoftheDraw

    Stop,an8/32screwandan8/32hexnut.Toinstallthestop,

    placethehexnutinthetrackonthebacksideofthecam.

    Toadjustthestop,drawthebowbackeitherbyhandorina

    scale/shootingmachine.Atfulldraw,slidethestopuntilit

    contacts the under side of the limb. Back thestop off of the limb 1/32 (appox.) to allow for the

    rubber cap to be installed. Snug down the Draw Stop

    with the appropriate Hex head wrench, and install the

    rubbercapovertheDrawStop.

    InstallingandAdjustingtheSTS MostMartinbowsareoutttedwithanSTSStringDampeningunit,orareequippedto

    acceptone.Thisunitisinstalledinthe3/8diameterholelocatedjustbelowthegripandissecuredinplacewiththesetscrewintersectingthisholefromthesideoftheriser.The

    STSrodshouldbepositionedsothattheSTSBumperisnearlyagainstthebowstringwhen

    thebowisatrest.ExcessivecontactwiththebowstringwillpreventtheSTSBumperfrom

    performingeffectivelyasadampener,andmaycausetheBumpertobepulledoffbythe

    bowstringduringtheshot.Asmallgap(approximately1/16)shouldbeallowedbetweenthe

    bowstringandBumperwhenthebowisatrest.

    Cam tuning assures straight and level

    travel of the arrow (nock travel) as it

    travels thru and from the bow. Tuned

    Cams will benet accuracy and keep

    noise and vibration to a minimum. To

    full draw, slow down and watch as the

    First, relax the bow properly in a
