For a quality product dedicated to the pleasure of doing something you love.

This new collection follows the direction we chose from the beginning: to build quality skis designed for performance, and founded on an authentic passion for skiing.

We aim to share this approach of skiing by building freeride tools destined to fulfil this search for pleasure in all it’s forms. laminateLaminates : Mixture of Bi-axial and Tri-axial fibres. The combination of different bi-X and tri-X fibres determines the flex and the torsion of the ski. The core and laminates of the ski combine to determine the camber memory, and therefore the ski’s durability.

edgeThe edge is the metal part running along the sole of the ski. Indeed, we use two types of edges on our skis.

biax 300Just be bi. Bi-ax laminates over and under the woodcore creates an easy flex with lots of feel.

flat tailSquare Tail : the classic tail shape of a high mountain ski. Slightly raised and rounded on the sides. Easier to plant vertically for a high mountain use, this type of tail allows for a good grip on hard snow.

super light twinThis consists of an alternative to the twin tip which offers a gentler tail for more all-round use, without changing the responsiveness and the alpine character of the ski. The semi-rounded tail allows for great handling and float for narrow turns, whilst preserving its directional capacities on hard snow.

cursor Let’s not tell too many tales about skiing. We can do anything on snow with any ski wider than 80 mm underfoot. We can also do anything with a ski of 125 mm underfoot. It all depends on the rider, expectations, tastes and desires. In our 2013 range, some models are more specialized than others. Even if, genetically, a single pair of black crows can do anything as they are, after all, skis. Here are a few highly complex but nonetheless simple diagrams to help you find a ski appropriate for your vision of skiing :

The type of flex required. There is no easier or more difficult flex, but there are different styles of riding.

The different aspects and practices of freeskiing.

Any type of snow, from the softest ones to the most hostiles.

A broad definition of speed, from the ones who prefer laid-back skiing to the ones who rather charge the beast.

Double Radius : the principal of a double radius consists of moving the widest zone of the ski further back from the tips. In reducing the length of edge in contact with hard snow, the ski gains in ease of rotation and handling, and the whole ski becomes easier to control. So the ski keeps the advantages of extra floatand good handling in soft snow, whilst benefiting from a shorter edge contact zone and better handling on hard snow. This shape of ski is well adapted to freeriding : a discipline which by definition evolves on every type of snow, in all types of conditions and all types of mountain. Faced with such demands, the double radius is a very convincing solution : a ski which can rotate quickly for short turns and becomes very stable at high speeds and in straight lines.

strengths : Handling on all types of terrain, edge control, ability to change turning radius and constancy due to longbow system.

single short rayDouble radius tail & front rocker sidecut

The single short radius is the combination of classic tail shape and a front rocker. The double radius tail allows progressive turning, while the front rocker easily stays afloat, as well as facilitating quick rotation and therefore control of speed. By reducing the demands on the front tip in this way, the ski is much more easier to handle and less physical. With its balanced flex, the single short radius creates a very playful and fun ski.

strengths : Directional power of a double radius ski and increased ease of rotation thanks to the single beak system.

couple short rayFront & back rocker sidecut

The double rocker shape means that the tip of the ski floats easily as well as the tail. The ski’s central axis is highly dynamic and allows, with its ease of rotation, to have an unrivalled control of speed and direction indeep snow. With its balanced flex, the doubleshort radius provides the ski with amazing endurance, handling, and, if you wish, without limits.

The freeride has for a long time been what each person made it, everyone having their own vision and definition, when all it really consists of is free skiing off-piste. Put simply, freeriding is built on an elementary trilogy : man, skis and snow-covered mountains. The technical level hardly matters, it is after all a personal commitment involving authenticity and passion. Oh, and sharing, if you like.

Our freeride range is divided into two segments : big mountain and all mountain, from the widest to the narrowest of our models. Each of these models has its own specialities and unique qualities based on their purpose and demands. Yet always with the black crows philosophy in mind : skis made for all types of snow and terrain. From the first to the last snowflake, from the nearest bowl to the furthest hidden slopes.

Free skiing, depending on how you approach it, is one of the last remaining zones of complete freedom and total autonomy.

The nocta was designed by Julien Regnier, a pioneer in reverse camber development. The modern sidecut makes the nocta a powerful weapon for powder skiers, while its soft and dynamic flex allows for great handling in any snow conditions. With its 18 meter sidecut radius, the nocta also carves well on hard snow. Double beak technology : its front rocker, long and gradual, allows the nocta to be very effective in deep snow and its back rocker, more moderate, provides an excellent stability at high speed.

The volume distribution also ensures a maximum efficiency in powder snow, notably due to its floating and stabilizing tail. Lightweight and well balanced, centre mounted, this master of freestyle backcountry is theweapon for big jumps and switch run-ins.Float, handling and ease are the magic words for tomorrow’s deep powder and adventure ski, and so the nocta, both a formidable powder weapon and a versatile ski, makes this vision a reality.

“With a short underfoot camber which allows you to forget the size of the tips and the length of the ski, you have a very playful ski even on hard snow and the short turn radius brings back the body angles and the sensations of snowboarding in the early 90s.” Julien Regnier.

2 sizes:The 188 : A perfect size for powder runs. The shape of the reverse camber requires an increase in the size of the ski, the 188 therefore corresponds to traditional skis lengths between 170 and 180 cm.

The 176 : Ideal size for smaller skiers and women, it corresponds to traditional ski lengths between 160 and 170 cm.

The all mountain orb is an all terrain downhill ski. Given its longbow camber, double ray side cut and 90 mm underfoot, it combines manoeuvrability and accessibility.

Our most slender all mountain model is a formidable off-piste and piste ski which is equally at ease on smooth snow as it is in changeable and choppy conditions.

Some of the black crows veterans come from the era of what is now known as “old school” freestyle, an acro-artistic discipline of unlimited perspectives where we used somewhat long skis and poles, and were sometimes naked. Our bodies had been forged on the mogul fields, ski jumps and acroski pistes, and these memories of our younger years spent trying to do a double daffy or a spread eagle with grace and style left their mark on us.

“In 2013, the damn kids seem to reinvent the laws of gravity every winter, equally in the park as freeriding off piste, and are reaching a technical and aesthetic level which is quite simply phenomenal. The evolutions of equipment and infrastructures responded to the creativity of this new generation and also made the sport much more accessible.
