WOU Soccer HistoryIn 1996, women’s soccer at Western Oregon became an intercollegiate sport again. Therevival marked the second time in school history that women’s soccer was an official partof the athletic program. Western Oregon fielded a “club” team in 1995, but prior to thatcompeted as an intercollegiate squad from 1981-85, a time spanning five seasons. JackieRice, who had coached the school’s women’s field hockey team for 12 years, co-coachedthe first two Western Oregon teams with Chris Creecy-Myers and then served as the headcoach for two of the next three seasons. Both the men’s and women’s soccer programswere discontinued prior to the 1986 season. Records listed below do not reflect anymarks prior to the 1996 season.
