2011-12 Varsity and JV Public School Overview

Varsity – There will be games every night of the week.

•Majority of nights the schedule will be:

•4:30 PM - JV Boys or Girls

•6:00 PM - Girls Varsity

•7:30 PM - Boys Varsity

•May be some nights of single Varsity game at 7pm

•Extra $2 Travel for all Varsity and JV Contests

JV – Many other games will be played on Saturdays

•5-6 Saturdays will be round robin 9a – 2p

•Multiple sites

•3 Schools at each of ten sites in Round Robin Play

•Game every hour…or so

•Six (6) min Quarters

•Five (5) min halves

2011-12 JV Public School Vendor Payment

JV Round Robin Saturdays

•One contact at the school

•Hand each vendor form to that one contact

•Fill form out at site

•Only one travel charge

•That contact will put your vendor form in the correct “pony” envelope so the correct school receives and can process payment

•Know who the visiting school is for the game(s) you do

•Follow up promptly to see AD received form

•Advice is to not let it go past a week to see if form was received

BCBOA MENTOR PROGRAM

BCBOA MENTOR PROGRAM

•Experienced officials in support of our newer officials

•Saturday JV Schedule lends itself well for program

•Goals: Observation, advisement, partnership, support

•Commitment for one season

•Mentor Goals – Pregame, constructively during, and post game guidance, effective communication skills

•Mentee Goals – Observation. Listen effectively, ask questions, work to employ mentor recommendations

•Mentors will be paid $25 for the game they evaluate providing they get evaluation done by Tuesday following Saturday event.

FHSAA Pregame Mechanics Change

Pregame – Will be posted on line

15:00 Prior to Tip – Officials on Floor at respective spots

12:00 – Captains Meetings – Pregame Conference

U1 and U2 stand with backs at table facing floor watching their respective teams.

Officials return to position opposite the table

10:00 – Referee checks book

1:00 – ALL officials return tableside for the introduction of the players and playing of the national anthem. Officials stand on the side of their respective team responsibility. The officials will introduce themselves to the timer and scorer. During the playing of the National Anthem, officials will stand side by side facing the flag.

After pregame activities – officials remove jackets. Umpires go their block, referee goes to Division line opposite the table. At horn, Umpires go to teams to get them onto the floor and properly attired with shirts tucked in.

Halftime –

At horn of 2nd Quarter end – ALL officials meet at center circle and wait for teams to clear the floor. Referee goes to table to make sure all is good and change the arrow to the direction it should point to start the second half.

All officials leave the court together, and return to start the 3rd Qtr together.
