Part of the RTL group, M6 is the second commercial channel in France, with a share of 10.6% in

2009-2010 among all viewers, a fairly stable performance compared to the 2008-2009 season.

M6 is determined to impose itself as a family-focused channel and consequently offers a varied

mix of entertainment, fiction, current affairs and news programming. M6 regularly tops the

ratings with US dramas such as NCIS, Bones and Desperate Housewives. TV movies also represent

a weekly average of 12 hours in the grids. Nevertheless, the volume of US series has decreased to

leave more space for factual and entertainment formats. More and more of M6’s productions are

taking place in-house, either through its subsidiary Studio 89 or through Fremantle Media (also

part of RTL). It also adapts successful international formats such as Come Dine with Me or Peking

Express. In prime time, long-running magazines such as Capital and Zone Interdite remain sure

bets.

During the week, mornings are dedicated to telenovelas and soaps, with TF1 broadcasting the German one Verliebt in Berlinand France 2 airing Days of our Lives

and The Bold

and the Beautiful,which both perform very well during daytime, adding 4.4 points to France 2’s market share. At 11:15, France 3 follows with reruns of the local soap Plus Belle

la Vie.

French broadcasters offer almost exclusively investigation series during the afternoon. If TF1 starts its programming with the US soap The Young and the Restless, it continues

with US series Law & Order and Monk. Germany is ubiquitous in the other channels’ schedules, with France 2 airing investigation series Der Alte and Kommissar Rex,France 3

offering Derrick, and M6 broadcasting the soap opera Alles was zählt.

Concept: For the launch of its new robot "Robust" Philips and M6.fr

have made up a new web program, a spin-off of hit format "Top Chef",

but online. They are inviting bloggers to compete in a food challenge

and try to win a trip around the world. The program is hosted by ex

candidate of the TV french version Yaoké San. At the end of the

challenges, the viewers vote, and five finalists are chosen. They have to

compete on front of a jury made of Grégory Marchand (young chef and

ex chef with Jamie Oliver) and Anne Lataillade, famous blogger, founder

of papillesetpupilles.fr, the 1st food blog in France.
