SNAPSHOT

PREACHING

One of the most important things wedo in Japan is preaching the gospel ofJesus Christ. We do this every single

week at the Sunday morning meeting. For this reason, the entire staff andmany church members work to getnon-Chr i s t i ans to the chu rchgatherings in order that they mighthear the gospel.

The preaching this year was Bible-based, focusing on core truths of

Christianity. The church website hasbeen a surprsingly helpful means inproclaiming the the gospel. This pastyear the our churchʼs messageswere downloaded over 13,000 times. To watch these messages online clickhere.

WORSHIP

In Japan, music speaks to people in apowerful way. The worship serves, firstand foremost, as an activity that all

Christians engage in to glorify God.The dynamic music has also served todraw many non-Christians to thechurch and keep them coming back.

The worship band includes a rotationof MSCC staff, Japanese musicianswho attend the church and a few otherarea Christians.

FELLOWSHIP

Times of fellowship and makingrelationships have come very naturallyfor this new church. After church onSundays, fellowship times usually lastfor over an hour and then may alsoinclude lunch. After the Bible study on

Tuesday nights the fellowship times goany where from one to two hours afterthe Bible study.

These are very effective times ofministry and relationship bulding timesin our church.

LEADERSHIP TRAINING

The church has had a host of churchvolunteers this past year. We alsohave two young men, Taisei andHideki, training for various kinds ofleadership. Recently we also hired ourfirst Japanese staff person; Risa ayoung woman who will serve part timeas a ministry assistant.

BIBLE STUDY

Bible study meets in a living room

every Tuesday night at 7:30. Themeeting has anywhere from 5 to 15people in attendance. This past yearthe material was aimed at teachingvery basic truths to the new Christiansin the church while giving the non-Christians in attendance a chance tolearn more about what Christiansbelieve and what the Bible says. Thesemeetings also include a time of group

prayer at the end of each study.

OUTREACH

In a city of nine million people whereonly 0.5% of the population areChristians, reaching out to the

community plays a major role in the lifeof the church.

This year, evangelism has beenpracticed in many forms. People areinvited to church through communityclubs, social networking sites, massadvertising and in many other ways.

One of the ways we raise awareness

about the church is through playingmusic at parks or near major trainstations. Every church attendanceequals an opportunity to hear thegospel and therefore we approachthese activities with great tenacity.

CHILDRENʼS CHURCH

During the sermon a class for children

ages 1 through 7 is held in a small sideroom. The kids learn Bible stories, playtogether, sing songs and do crafts. This class is a lot of fun for the kidsand a few adults have attended MSCCbecause their children ask to be takento church for the kids class.
