I. Bioethics sensitization programme for faculty was organised on 9th October 2015

II. Bioethics “End of life issues” was organized on 15th March 2016

III. World Bioethics Day was celebrated on 19th Oct 2016 on the theme ‘Human Dignity

& Human Rights

IV. Organized a workshop on ‘Good Clinical Practices (GCP)’for the faculty of the

institute and also outside the institution on 8th Sept 2017.

V. A workshop on Communication skill for 2nd year MBBS students as a part of

Bioethics activity for the year 2018 on two separate days, on 5th& 12th February 2018.

VI. A workshop was organized on “Clinician’s role in Pharmacovigilance ” for faculty as

6. Vision of the department

ACADEMIC:

To educate the undergraduate medical students with the help of interactive learning

techniques.

To introduce symposiums, debates and creative group activities for undergraduate

medical students to inculcate effective communication skills and kinship

To acquaint the undergraduate medical students with the concept of research by involving

them in various short research projects

PATIENT CARE:

PHARMACOVIGILANCE

o To sensitize undergraduate & post graduate medical & nursing students,

institutional faculty and physicians towards the importance of identifying,

assessing and reporting adverse drug reactions.

o To regularly assess the adverse drug reaction reports and forward the same to the

National Coordination Centre, Ghaziabad.

o To organize programs for medical healthcare professionals to instill the

importance of drug safety monitoring.

BIOETHICS UNIT:

o To arrange programs for students, faculty and allied healthcare professionals for

introducing bioethical principles as defined by UNESCO.

DRUG INFORMATION DESK (In the pipeline)

o To establish a drug information desk, which will help provide a better

understanding of the prescription to the patients.

o To educate the patients and the community about the correct use and the perils of

misuse of medicines.

4. Formative Assessment - Post completion tests (PCT) on a quarterly basis

5. Pharmacovigilance: a. Documentation of data related to Adverse Drug Reactions

(ADRs) reported from various clinical departments of the institute.

b. Regular analysis of documented ADRs which are then forwarded to the National Coordinating Centre for further evaluation through the Vigi-Flow software

c. Training and sensitizing healthcare professionals towards pharmacovigilance

6. Research: Students & faculty are engaged in various medical research projects. Training students for conducting research through workshops.

7. Bioethics: Principles of bioethics are inculcated through workshops, debates, lectures and various other programs.

Facilities- 1. Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory- Well equipped laboratory for

performing pharmacological experiments. 2. Computer Assisted Laboratory- Fully functional computerized

laboratory with 15 up to date computers to help students understand practical aspects of pharmacology. Each unit supporting experimental pharmacology simulation software like ExPharm.

3. Museum- We provide a wide-ranging exhibit of various medicine specimens, models and charts for learning pharmacology.

4. Library- We have a collection of latest medical books & journals 5. Lecture theatre- 2 air-conditioned lecture halls with a seating capacity

of 200 equipped with modern audio-visual technology.

6. Demo Rooms- 3 demonstration rooms with audiovisual aids and an interactive board to support microteaching & integrated sessions.
