Dissemination of national data:information in Quality Report

Introduction

The new template for the BoP quality report, encompasses all the quality criteria defined in the Regulation on European Statistics, including required chapter on accessibility and clarity.

The existing chapter on accessibility has been considered as not very informative and useful in analysis of data quality.

Eurostat would like to propose a change to this part of the quality report aiming at providing information on consistency between data published.

Generalities about accessibility

Derived from the current section on accessibility,

all tick-in boxes to be prefilled by Eurostat, using the information obtained from this year round of quality reporting,

To be updated by Member States only in case of changes.

Comparing data disseminated nationally and data disseminated by Eurostat

The table on "Data consistency between data published by Eurostat and Member State" to be prefilled by Eurostat with national figures published in Eurobase.

Member States will be requested to crosscheck these data with those disseminated nationally and to fill-in the table with figures published nationally, only in cases of discrepancies with values published by Eurostat.

Members of the Working Group are requested:

– To discuss the usefulness of the information related to accessibility, currently collected in the Quality Report;

– To comment on the proposed change in the template, that could be introduced with the 2012 round of BoP quality reporting.
