    ADSL Standards

G.992.1 Annex A ADSL over POTS

25 kHz 138 kHz in the uplink and 138 kHz 1104 kHz in thedownlink. It falls into non-overlap and overlap and is used in mostplaces.

G.992.1 Annex B ADSL over ISDN

Application of ISDN and ADSL on the same twisted pair

    G.992.1 Annex C

ADSL in the TDD ISDN (G.961) crosstalk environment and is mainlyapplied in Japan.

    G.992.2 G.Lite or splitterless ADSL

The uplink band is the same as Annex A, the downlink band is 138kHz 552 kHz, the transmission rate is 512 kbps in the uplink and1536 kbps in the downlink.

    ADSL2/2+ Standards

    G.992.3

ADSL2 is developed on the basis of ADSL and was formulated in June

    2002.

    G.992.3 Annex I and Annex J

The support for the full digital loop mode is added. Annex I applies when

the line pair is POTS and Annex J applies when the line pair is ISDN.

    G.992.3 Annex L

    So-called long distance ADSL2

    G.992.5

Downlink band from 1.104 MHz of ADSL2 to 2.208 MHz and expanded the

tone number from 256 to 512. Therefore, the downlink rate has been

    greatly increased.

    Major Features of ADSL2+

    4. Much lower power consumption By lowering the transmit power and reducing the noise margin beyond

the requirement, ADSL2+ reduces the useless power consumption on

    the precondition of stable running.

Introduction to the ADSL2+ Technology5. Staler running and good spectral compatibility

The receiver selects the best tone as the pilot according to the tone

ordering decided by the channel analysis result, so the ADSL connection

    is much more stable.

The tone is closed in the training process and the RFI (Radio Frequency

Interference) distribution of the receiving end is tested, so RFI is well

avoided and the crosstalk to the other line pairs is reduced.

Good dynamic adaptability: Enhanced bit swap enables seamless

dynamic change of the line rate.

    Introduction to the ADSL2+ Technology

The power cutback function with up to 40 dB at the receiverend and the transmitter end reduces the near-end echo andcrosstalk.

The pilot is decided by the receiving end, so the problem that

the pilot cannot be activated due to line bridge tap or AMinterference can be avoided.

The training process is shortened and connectionsynchronization can be quickly recovered from errors.

Introduction to the ADSL2+ Technology6. Line diagnosis function

ADSL2+ supports the dual-ended test function. Training can be

conducted at the CO and the CPE, and line parameters can be

obtained through the special line test procedure.

    7. Dynamic rate adaptation

ADSL2+ solves crosstalk, AM interference and other problems by use

of the SRA (Seamless Rate Adaptive) technology.

    8. Rate binding function

In order to provide different levels of services for different

customers, ADSL2+ can bind two or more copper wires with one

ADSL connection through the IMA technology so as to flexibly

    improve the access rate.

Introduction to the ADSL2+ Technology10. Better interworking capability

ADSL2/ADSL2+ divides the ADSL transceiver by functions into multiplesublayers:

TPS-TC (Transmission Protocol Specific TransmissionConvergence) sublayer

PMS-TC (Physical Media Specific Transmission Convergence)sublayer

    PMD (Physical Media Dependent) sublayer

MPS-TC (Management Protocol Specific TransmissionConvergence) sublayer used for the NM interface

Each sublayer is encapsulated and the messages between thesesublayers are defined. This helps the interworking among theequipment of different vendors.
