I n .five hours, all was ready for the first service in the bigtent. From the very first service, G od movedin a mighty way. Every afternoon, men andwomen confessed Christ as Saviour and Lord.Every night, deaf ears were unstopped, andmany received their sight. Removed eardrumswere restored and diseases of various kindsdisappeared at the touch of the Master's Hand.3rother Valdez preached under a graciousanointing of the Spirit, and the presenceof the Gi ft of Healing was certainly mademanifest. Wh at a joy to see men and womenput their canes or crutches over their shouldersand wdk off the platform-many of them, never to be used again. Even thetrucks made us think of the wagons pro-vided to carry the curtains, poles, ropes, etc.;but the .lovely, Golden Ark was carried onthe shoulders of appointed men. One such man, from out of town, had his hearing restored, and discovered, after driving some forty' mileshome, that. he had forgotten to wear hisglasses. He had received a touch, not onlyupon his ears and eyes, but also on a crippledknee. To God be all the glory. The campaign is closed, but we are still re-ceiving reports of those who have beenhealed. Allen Evangelistic Party was withus at Tyler, Texas, recently in a citywide tentrevival, and nightly we saw the soul-stirringeffects of the power of G od as they ministeredMultitudes sought G od for salvation, comingto the altar weeping and with evidence of deepconviction, but going away with great joy andpeace. Miracles of healing were witnessed asthe way of faith was made plain through thedear positive preaching of the Word, and God.confirmed the Word with signs following. One n i g h t , a m an , t o t a l l y b l i n d and uns av ed ,w a ed i n t o t h e mee ti n g . of our people to return to their home churchesand go to work as never before to bring realspiritual revival within their own churches. We will be reaping souls and church growthfrom this revival for a long time to come.Holy Ghost nights were high points in therevival. Many were amazed at the great num-ber who received the Holy Spirit instantly ashands were laid upon them in the line, or afew ylinutes later as they walked on, praisingand blessing God. I t would have been far easierto count the seekers who did not receive theBaptism, than those who did.I t was a blessing to see the spirit of love andChristian brotherhood that was apparentamong all the cooperating churches andpastors.Brother Allen and party won all our hearts, and we shall be very happy if the Lord shouldlead them to come our way again.

Crutches No Longer NeededI had arthritis for ten years and used acrutch most of the time. Sometimes it becameso bad that I was bedfast. For the past yearand a half I depended upon my crutch

completely to get around. I took many dif-ferent kinds of medicine, and went to doctors, but none of them did me any good. When Brother R. W. Holmes prayed forme during his Paris, Texas, meeting, theiLordinstantly healed me, and I have not used mycrutch since. Now I am able to do all my workwithout the use of a crutch or any supportwhatever, and can even work in my garden,(something I could not previously do). Itruly praise the Lord for His healing powertoday! Pearl ChristopherRoute 5,Paris, Texas

Life Restored To Stiff Leg.M y twenty-year-old son has had no feelingin one foot and leg since birth. He has beenfrom Burlington, Vt., to Boston, Mass, to allkinds of doctors and hospitals, and they couldnot determine the cause of the trouble.Recently, however, my son went throughthe healing line in Brother Ericksons meeting, and when Brother Erickson prayed for him,the feeling instantly came into his leg. Thenext day the big toe joint, that had been stifffor fifteen years, became limber, and has beenfree ever since. W e praise G od for his healing!Mrs. E. V. Towne. Sherburne Center, Vt.

    A. . IL,GROWTH ON FACE DI SAPPEARSFor about two months, I had some kind ofgrowth on the side of my nosei that spreadunder my eye.in the way of my wearing glasses, that I de-cided to see a doctor. He told me that hewould remove the ,growth and have it ana-lyzed. I made an appointment to return tohave this done. However, I did not keep theappointment, but decided to trust God. I wroteto Brother A. A. Allen and asked him topray for me that God would remove thisgrowth. H e sent me a prayer cloth. I placedthe~cloth n the growth, and now, praise God,it i s gone. I praise God for the healing andfor His good ministers that are always soready to help.

I am thanking the Lord for His wonderfulhcaling power. I was sick for the past twoyears; the last year of which I was practicallybedfast and helpless. On August 25, 1951, 1was healed in the Jack Coe meeting at LittleRock, Arkansas, and am well today..I had a diseasecalled sderoder-ma, which i s thetightening of thed e r m a t o t h ebone, checking all

Minn., given usin March of thisyear. In October,1950, I becamevery stiff and sorein my joints. Myjoints were enlarged,. and I grew worse andworse. I went to 9 of the most prominentdoctors in Arkansas, and none could find any-thing organically wrong with me. I hadX-rays, fluoroscopes, blood tests, skin tests, complete check-ups, through one clinic afteranother, chiropractor adjustments-all withno results. I was getting worse, as the diseasewas advancing rapidly. By this time, weknew I was losing grounds fast, so ourfamily physician advised me to go to Mayos. On the fourth day, one of the doctors calledmy sister out of my room to tell her, Wecannot do your sister any good. Y ou maygo back home. .This came as a severe blowto me. I knew it meant just a matter oftime for me. Mayos gave us a treatment oftherapy light, followed by a cocoa buttermassage to try to add to my comfort. Thiswas applied through my family doctor, withshots prescribed by Mayos. I grew worse allthe time. As the swelling in my feet andhands would be reduced, the derma wouldstick; as it stuck, my skin would itch andturn dark. I was partly petrified and dead i nparts of my body. My stomach was affected, and I could not eat. The skin on mychin andcheeks were strrck and one side of m y face, was drawn out of : shape. I could hardly openmy mouth for drink or food. I had no appetite. My hair and eyebrows were coming out. Theskin stuck so tight to my bones that the bloodcould not circulate properly, and I could notfeel the changein temperature from hot tocold. I lay lifeless for hours at a time in adeep sleep. My nurse would apply my therapytreatment and massage twice daily and myskin would become dry between treatmentsand terrify me with itching. I could not standthe touch of dothing or bed-clothes. My throatwas closing up as i t stuck, and we knew thediseaie was in the last stage. I was turningblack, and was mentally ill. I could not thinkor talk clearly. I was living in a fog, I couldnot even stand up. I .was not responding toany treatments, and the do&ors told my folksthat I had but a- few days to live. I had lostweight until I weighed only 85 pounds. ,

    THEN. WE HEAR D OF J A C K C O E SMEE TI NG S. At first, I could not think clearly

CrippUed B oy Wu l k sI have always believed in the healing pow&of God. My l ittle son was crippled from birth.Fo r two years, he

could only walkon his toes. It oo k h i m t oRocheport, M of,where BrotherM abr y was con-ducting a healingservice i n theCity Auditorium.Brother S. Mrs. J. M. BlackburnRocheport, Mo.,enough to reason with myself, but I prayed fora clearer mind and faith to ask our Lord toheal my body. The third day my mind wasbrighter, .,and my folks and I could talk itover about bur going to the meeting. W e livedabout 100 miles from Little Rock. My son,my sister and I made the trip in a car. Theymade me a bed in the back seat. My soncarried me under the tent, and I lay on astretcher during the service that night. ThenBrother C oe came to me. I was praying sohard I dont remember all that he said-but.when he said, Get up and walk-I did-andhave been walking ever since. We got homefrom. the Li ttle Rock meeting about 2 oclockon Sunday morning, and that same morning at10 oclock, I went to $Sunday School and-church. My pastor and church members weresurprised to see me, but they rejoiced wi thme because they knew that i t was the workof the Lord.

The first 7 weeks after I was healed I wentto church every night, testifying of my healing.I have rece+d suc4.a great blessing that Iwant to tell i t to everyone. I eat anything Iwant, and feel fine. I have no pain, my skinis gradually becoming loose from my body, and the swelling is all gone. I can wear shoesand clothes, and live like other folk.

My family doctor said that God was theonly one who could save me-that no medi-cine or human hands could have done it. Iam so thankful for my healing, that I amalways willing to,,accept any opportunity totestify for our great Lord and Master. I havebeen healed 10 weeks and have gained 9pounds. I now weigh 94 pounds, and.gainingevery day-in faith, courage, strength, andweight. Mrs. Jackie Rhodes ,P. 0. Box 14 .Delight, Arkansas .TH E VOICE O F HEALING January, 1952

continually I am receiving requests thatI wil l pray f& this, and that, and theother thing; perhaps for healing, or guid-ance, or the salvation of a loved one, orprovision for a need, or direction in busi-ness, o r j u s tblessing. Themajority of theserequests I have inmind come fromcomplete stran-gers., I supposeth ey find m yname and ad-d r e s s in s o m emagazine. Som epeop l e seem tomake a hobby ofsending out a flood of such requests forprayer. I begin to believe that they eventhink i t is some kind of a special min-istry entrusted to them! I t seems hightime to attempt some comment upon It.But to write what I think needs to bewritten makes me liable to grave misun-derstanding. So may I make it dear atonce that not only do I believe-in prayer, but I believe ,also in asking prayer fromothers. Pauls epistles contain earnest ap-peals for prayer on his behalf (e.g. Rom.15:30; Eph. 618; 1. Thess. 5:25; 11. Thess.3:l ). But it,should be noted that these re-quests were from a pioneer missionaty en-gaged in arduous, dangerous aiid highly

importan; work for C hrist and the Gospel. They were not for purely personal andintimate private and family needs. Ifpersonal at all they h i d some definite con-nection with the work of God. Moreoverthey were requesa for prayer addressed topersonal friends, or those well-known tothe apostle by sacred ties in the fellow-ship of the Spiri t. They were not promis-cuous. The thing that makes me uneasy aboutthis flood of irresponsible requests forprayer from strangers is the feeling, though I may be wrong, that many ofthem come from people who are not do-ing their own praying, and want othersto do i t for them. I t can easily be aform of spiritual laziness, and a shirkingof proper responsibility. To pray for ourown families and friends is a sweet and

ABOUT REQUESTSFOR PRAYERsacred privilege. I am sure it is good andright to seek the. prayers of a faithfulpastor or some believing friends whoknow something of the person and theneeds involved. Bu t such asking for theprayers of others must never be regardedas a substitute for shouldering our ownresponsibility i n prayer.

Another fallacy I suspect is the idea thatsending in a request for prayer is i n. t-self a ,form of praying. I t is nothing ofthe sort., Though I send out a thousandrequests for prayer I still may not haveprayed one word, or one minute, myself.Asking a popular. evangelist to do mypraying for me may almost approach aform of idolatry if I put him in mythinking very nearly in the place of God.An earnest prayer of my very own, in fuflknowledge of the need I am bringing tothe Throne of Grace in the Name ofJesus is likely to avail far, far more thannecessarily vague prayers by strangers, however multipl ied in number. Let uslearn to do $ourown praying. At the close of a meeting the othernight a woman, a complete stranger, came and asked me to pray for her son.I suppose all special preachers get thatkind of thing continually. In this case Istopped her and said Stand here withme, and let us pray for him togetherright now. She looked startled, for shewas just preparing to dri ft away, doubt-less feeling that she had done the prop-er-thing. Bu t I held her, hand and prayedthen and there for her boy. I felt theblessing of God. Her face registered a newsense of personal responsibility. And Iregistered a feeling of a responsibility f d -Hied, not only in prayer but perchancein having taught someone a new lessonin praying herself instead of continually Iasking others to pray.

do there no mighty work, save he laid, handsupon a few sick folk and healed them. Verse .5. Prayer determined the degree of the healingpower present; the amount of faith. presentdetermines the release of that power.TH E FOURTH FACTOR IN TH E POWER

OF H EAL I NG is the*degreeof faith that thesick person possesses. The need of personalfaith, if one is to receive any thing from G odis so ,widely taught in the Scriptures, thatwe hardly need to dwell upon this matterhere. Jesus said, According to your faith, sobe it unto you, or Your faith has made youwhole. M any factors determine the faith thatan individual has. Generally speaking, when anindividual desires healing, he needs to havehis faith quickened for that particular healing.Christians of long standing, who call forprayer at .a moments notice wi thout anyheart preparation, often find i t difficult to re-ceive their healing. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

T HE F IFTH FACTOR I N T HE EFFECT-IVENESS OF HEALING, involves the indi-viduals care of his body. I t is true that aperson, when ministered to, must act his faith. He should begin doing what he could not dobefore. However, he should not be negligentin the care of hisbody. A person healed froma serious sickness, should not overdo, or at-tempt foolish and unprofitable ventures justto show how strong he is. W e have knownthose who have had remarkable deliverances, and who foolishly dissipated their strength bylong working hours, eating carelessly, plungingviolently into business, without thought that-they might go beyond their strength. Healedpeople should not baby themselves, yet natureitself teaches us that proper care of the bodyis essential, and people y ho are careless inthis way, have been known to have had re-lapses, which can be charged to the fault ofno one but their own.

TH E SIX TH FACTOR INVOLVED I NT H E PO WE R O F HEALI NG , is the fact thatthere is a vast difference between a sicknesswhich may be healed, and a wasting diseasethat has already destroyed vital parts of the- body, and where complete healing involvescreative action. As an illustration: A man whohas an injured aim may be healed. But if hisarm has been destroyed, i t may well be thathe doesnot have faith for i t to grow backagain. Now, let us take a para1161 illustrationin which two individuals have cancer, of the.stomach. Both are prayed for, and in bothcases, the cancer is killed and passes from thebody. One person fully recovers, but the othernever becomes fully well . I n the first case,no vital organ was destroyed, and the personrecovers. In the other case, vital parts of theorgan were already destroyed by the cancer.Healing is not sufficient. Because of the ad-vanced stage of the cancer, a creative miracleis required to restore parts vital to life. Wherefaith is high, such a miracle may, and oftendoes, take place; however, where faith is weak,i t is quite possible that the death of the cancermay take place, wi thout the necessary re-creation of destroyed organs. Moral: A sickperson should seek the Lord for his healingbefore he is almost .dead and not as a lastresort. Such delay is parallel to that of a sinner, who waits till he is dying, before he makes

an effort to get his soul saved. There are, ofcourse, death bed conversions, and there arealso remarkable healings that take place onapparent death beds.THE SEVENTH FACTOR I N T HE POWERAND RAPIDITY OF A HE AL I NG involvesthe individuals determination to stand onGods Word, and his refusal to be influencedby symptoms. The new, convert who gives wayto feelings or temptation, may, all the balanceof his life be a spiritually sick Christian.Being dominated by his senses, instead of Godspromises, he is,continually up and down. Incontrast, other Christians who learn to stand,on the Word regardless of feelings or the

devils lies, develop inio sturdy believers, andenjoy an experience of victory. So i t is with those who come to God forhealing. There are those who are entirelyinfluenced by the way they feel rather thanby Gods Word. Consequently, they often losewhat they already have. On the other hand, there are those who are determined tobelieve the promise, and as they do thesymptoms vanish, and their healing becomesa ringing testimony of Gods healing power. Some have faith for a miracle, but not all. However, all have enough faith for a healing,if they will only use the faith that they have.Jesus said, if a man had faith as small as a

grain of mustard seed, he could speak to amountain, and it,would be removed. But youcannot dig up the mustard seed the next day,or the third day, to see if it has become atree. But, i f left alone, that bit of faith thatGod had created in the mustard seed, willcause action, and though this at first is imper-ceptible, yet finally i t will result in the seedgrowing until it becomes a great herb. The lesson to be learned then, is that weshould not become discouraged because ofdifficulties, or because deliverance does notbecome fully manifest immediately. The thingto remember is that i n every case, the diffi-culties wil l eventually be resolved, and over-come, i f we refuse to accept defeat.1 -

.T he Znternational Fellowship Co lum n

.w .w h a t a fellowship, what a joy di-vine, to behold the leaders of great.Pentecostal organizations, so unitedin spirit as.we saw them at the An-nual ,National- Convention of thePentecostal Fellowship o f NorthAmerica, in Detroit, Michigan, a fewweeks ago. Just before the Conuen-t ion in 1947, I aw a letter asking thehosts that the w riter and his party belodged i n another hotel, and if possi-ble, on a different street to that inwhich the leaders of another Moue-ment would be s tayittg. N ow , in1951, as I was standing k he lobbyof he Tul ler Hote l in D etro i t , I ouer-. heard brethren m aking arrangemeBtsto get as close together as possible. They were not satisf iedato be in thesame hotel or on the same f l o o r , butth ey wanted t o share the s a m e suiteof. rooms. There could not be found a spirit ofsuspicion and fear of one another. W enever heard an unkind word spokenabout another and never was-a harsh state-ment made against any brother in themeetings. The very atmosphere seemed tobe charged with tpe spirit of love andunity.

D E N T O F UNITY FO RLOCAL HEADSThe big heads of the many organiza-tions keep Gods people in differentcamps, was the general complaint thatI heard all over the States and Canada,in 1947,just after the first Wor ld C onfer-ence. The Fourth Annual Convention ofP.F.N.A., has conclusively proven thatstatement to be a lie, insomuch as it con-cerns the largest movements in NorthAmerica. I f District Superintendents, StateOverseers and Sectional Bishops wouldfollow the lead of their brethren, wewould soon have the Same unity andclose cooperation on state and local level,as we now have on the national level.SHIBBOLETHS DROPPEDShibboleths have been dropped with-out compromise: I t matters not whether abrother be called Chairman, President,Super i ntenden t, Overseer, Bishop, orApostle, his brethren know just what heis to them, and without boasting on hispart, all others will learn to know whathe i s when they have fellowship withhim. I t matters not whether we speak of

Thus we are gettingacquainted with the expressions in lan-guage and find that many imaginary mis-understandings -have been no deeper thanshibboleth (Judges 126). Letl prsythat many more of our brethren might dis-cover this fact and soon begin to seekthe fellowship of all Spirit-filled saints.Y O U T H O N T H E M O VEThe youth of the Pentecostal revivalare sparking many of the National Move-ments in America. Christhas counted the cost and H e cannot af-ford to build cheap or weak materialsinto His Church, nor can He take re-bellious and fearful men into His army.He needs men with the spirit of themartyrs that will follow Him dauntlessly. Then came HU B E R T SP ENCE ( P E N -T E C O S T A L H O L I N E SS C H U R C H ) witha searching message pointiqg out thatjust as i t must have beenmuch harderfor Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, than i twas for him to send Ishmael away,. soit will be much hardei for us to lay goodthings on the altar than to separate our-selves frbm the world. Another young lady, who had an injuredback, wept and cried, as she was being broughtinto the meeting, because of the intense pain.Brother Branham also ministered to her, tellingher to stand up. There was much rejoicingwhen she arose and put her hands in\ the a i rand praised God for her healing. looking forward with great expectancy to thelas t campaign here in Johannesburg. The sponsors of the Johannesburg campaignwere: The Apostolic Faith Mission of S. A.,the Assemblies of God, Pentecostal Holiness, and the Full Gospel Church of God. TheUnited Apostolic Church and the ChristianBrethren ittended the meetings and co-oper-ated in every way.

3,000 Respond to Gospel CallThe second tampaign was conducted in oneof the gold mining centers about ,100 milesfrotn Johannesburg. There was no hall largeenough to accommodate the crowds, so theStadium was given for the meetings. Only apart of the crowd had'shelter, the rest beingseated in the open. The first evening service

was cancelled because p f rain. However, thetwo remaining services seemed *to make upfor the one night lost.On the followi ng evening, after BrotherBaxter gave a simple Gospel message, i t isestimated that approximately 3,000 peopleresponded to the call. Many remarkable heal-ings took place, and the people rejoiced asthey saw the power of G od manifested insupernatural healings.

I One little boy with crossed eyes came to theplatform for prayer. H e was instantly healed.A doctor, who had given his heart to the Lordin the meeting, examined the boy and declaredhis eyes to be completely healed. From Klerksdorp, the party went to Kim-berley, the home of the world's largest dia-mond mines. The meetings were scheduled for

the City Hall. This space proved inadequate bythe first night's attendance, when hundredsstood outside, unable to gain entrance. Indeed, there were more people outside than in. Thefoll owing day, the organizers approached thelocal authorities with a view to securing thelarge Stadium, which service was attended byapproximately 5,000 people. Again the Lordblessed His servants. Hundreds stood for salva-tion each evening as Brother Baxter gave thealtar call. Brother Branham was greatly usedof God, and many testified to healing.Manifestation of GiftsAmazes Audience

We shall never forget the Saturday eveningservice when Brother Branham told the audi-ence that he would not call on the people whohad received cards to form the healing line, but that the ushers could go up into thegrandstand anddbring twenty of the sick peopleto the platform. After his ministry in discern-ing the sicknesses and spiritual needs of thepeople, he turned to the audience and therewas great rejoicing when he called several outof the audience, declaring their healing, in theName of the Lord. Many wept as they wit-nessed the glory of God, and many went awaysaying that they had indeed been in the pres-ence of the Almighty.

The Sunday evening service reached a di -max when Brother Branham ministered to theaudience. There was much shouting and clap-ping of hands, as one after another receivedhealing. Faith, in this service, reached a veryhigh level. Eternity alone will tell what wasdone in souls and bodies of men and womenthat night. Brother Branham said that seldomhad he seen such a cloud of glory descend onthe people, and such strong faith of the sick.
