He was a visionary artist, thinker, and innovator, considered the

“father of video art.”

In the early 1960’s he began incorporating TVS into his artwork. He really understood the power of

television. In addition to TV as a broadcast medium, television set itself can be used as a new

way to express artistic expression.

He used Television many ways into his artwork and experimented with them. For example, Paik found out that placing a giant magnet on top of a CRT TV could disorder a pattern on the screen, creating a work of abstract art.

Here are few of his really interesting works using TVs..

Paik was very fascinated with Television that he created a series of drawings on newspapers after he suffered from a stroke in 1996. He drew very simple televisions on newspapers with smiley faces in them.
