2019-2021 JUNIOR AMBASSADOR BRYAN LEPARD

I have been busy the last couple of years. Due to Covid 19, I chose to stay on &

represent the Meaford Fall Fair. I really enjoyed my duties before Covid helping out

giving ribbons at the fair, going to meetings, & even being in the regular & virtual Santa

Claus parade. I hope everyone stays safe & follows the health rules so that we can have a

great fair in 2022. Look for all our virtual events happening in 2021. It is outlined in this

mini fair book. Thank you for all the great sponsors and a BIG THANK YOU to all our

front line workers helping out during this difficult time.

The Jr. Ambassador Program is sponsored by

REMEMBERING 4 OF OUR fair SUPPORTERS Ruth Shortt was a valuable member for over 30 years of the

Meaford & St.Vincent Agricultural Society, 1970-2000 serving

as Chairman, Judge, Caterer, & Director. She sat on

committees that organized Ambassador competitions, floats

for parades, photographed all fair activities & kept fair history

records, & was recognized for meritorious service to

agriculture. We thank Ruth for her dedication to

Agriculture. Ruth’s daughter Helen, has taken after her

mother & announces our saddle horse shows.

Bob Greig as a young boy joined the 4H Jr. Farmers & the

Meaford & St. Vincent Agricultural Society where he served a

term as President in the mid 1950’s. Bob was sat as an

associate director for many years. He was also a committee

member in the poultry & cattle sections. Always a helpful a

helpful friend he spent many hours helping both family,

friends & at the fair.

Walter Boyd was first a member of the Rocklyn Agricultural

Society & when he moved to St. Vincent Township in 1962,

became a member of the Meaford & St. Vincent Agricultural

Society. He was popular for showing his Clydesdale horses.

During this time he was a Director & Chairman of the Horse

Committee. He also was a judge at area fairs. He held this

position until declining health forced his retirement. His wife

Elva could also be seen participating in the “Lady Driver”

section of the fair. Both dedicated members of our fair.

Elwood Holmes was a long time fair director and poultry exhibitor at the Meaford & St. Vincent Agricultural Society. He started showing at the Fall Fair from the age of 6 years. Elwood also mentored young people interested in the poultry hobby & to this date some are still involved. He was always a great supporter of the poultry area of the fair bringing in many interesting birds for show. In 2002, the poultry show building was dedicated to the memory of Elwood Holmes. A huge thanks to Elwood for bringing in the poultry show that is popular to this day.
