Welcome!

The Pace School of Performing Arts set out to be a national leader in undergraduate

performing arts training, and for the past five years, we have appeared on numerous

ranking lists as one of the top performing arts programs in the country. Our outstanding

faculty and cutting-edge curriculum are focused upon the singular mission of preparing

young performers for success in today’s entertainment industry. In a world dominated

by film, television, and streaming, our training is unique for its concentration on these

venues, as well as stage and live performance.

The mission of the Pace School of Performing Arts (PPA) is to

prepare students for careers as performers, designers, and

technicians in today’s ever-changing entertainment industry.

Program curricula blend comprehensive training for the worlds of

theater, dance, film, and television with a solid foundation in the

liberal arts to enrich students’ artistic development. Courses are

taught by more than 125 leading artist-educators across our many

disciplines, and outside of the classroom there are numerous local

and international productions and networking events each year.

PPA graduates have found professional success from Broadway to

Hollywood, and with a diverse range of unique programs consistently

GLOBAL ARTS TRAINING*Both the BA in Acting and BA in Directing International Performance Ensemble programs include a study abroad component. Students spend their fifth semester at the Institute of the

Arts Barcelona in Sitges, Spain. They complete Pace University academic requirements while training in European-based methods, including the physical acting techniques of Jerzy Grotowski, Michael Chekhov, and Jacques Lecoq; contemporary dance and ballet; masked performance; Grotowski-based vocal production technique; and heightened language. Directing majors create and present original work in site-specific environments. Academic studies may include Spanish language, history, and film courses.

THE BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS (BFA) IN PRODUCTION AND DESIGN FOR STAGE AND SCREEN provides intensive pre-professional

training for the designer and craftsperson. It is geared toward developing

technologically sophisticated skills in the fields of scenery, costumes, lighting,

sound, and media. The four-year sequence of courses focuses on primary

and secondary areas of concentration, and core requirements in sketching,

rendering, theater and film design history, script analysis, and much more.

The hands-on training required for success in today’s theater and

entertainment industries begins on day one.

THE BACHELOR OF ARTS (BA) IN STAGE MANAGEMENT prepares

students for careers in stage and production management through a focused

four-year program that builds and strengthens the core skills needed to

transition into the professional world of theater and film. In addition to courses

in acting, directing, and design, the program offers courses emphasizing

communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, technical knowledge,

union rules, and multiple practica as production stage managers and assistant

A Global Perspective

From Asia to Europe, Pace School of Performing Arts students and faculty present original work and participate in festivals and workshops around the world. These unique international opportunities can offer new insight into what it means to be an artist, an experience that will allow you to stand out. Students may enroll in travel courses offered through the Pace School of Performing Arts. Travel courses are semester-long special topics classes taught on campus and abroad. In the classroom, students learn performing arts history, methods, and traditions specific to an international region, and travel to that part of the world at the conclusion of the term. Past travel courses have taken students to the Grotowski Institute in Poland, Greece, Italy, Russia, Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria.* Traditional study abroad opportunities are also available through Pace University’s Education Abroad office.

individual appointments can be made with PPA directly, contingent

upon the availability of our tour guides and staff. To inquire, email

APPLYAll Pace School of Performing Arts majors require an audition and/or

interview for admission. Auditions are held in New York City, Dallas,

Chicago, and Los Angeles, and more information is available at

www.pace.edu/performingarts.

To apply, submit an undergraduate application to Pace University and upload digital audition materials to Acceptd, PPA’s partnering application site. Upon submission of audition and/or portfolio materials, you will be prompted to select a first and second choice audition/interview date and time. All applicants receive two decisions, the first from Pace’s Undergraduate Admission Office regarding academic admission (this may occur before or after a scheduled audition) and the second from the Pace School of Performing Arts regarding the audition decision and acceptance into one of the PPA majors. Based on the individual audition or interview, PPA awards a limited number of Talent Awards to exceptional individuals. The Talent Award is in addition to scholarships and other aid awarded through Pace University Financial Aid.
