Taupo Pt / Wainui Bay Trip
On Wednesday 26th August, the school will be heading out by bus to Wainui Bay. This trip is part of our
partnership with the Department of Conservation and Project Janszoon, where we are to help look after an area of
the Abel Tasman National Park.
Each class will be take an area to investigate from Wainui Sandspit out to Taupo Pt.
Further information will be forthcoming over the next week.
Information Technology
Next Wednesday and Thursday Jodie and Mark will be visiting recommended schools in Nelson to look at how they
are using information technology within their school. We will be looking at the types of technology used, how it is
used throughout the various age groups, does it lift children’s achievement, and how is trouble shooting managed.
Enrolment Scheme? The Board of Trustees has been approached by the Ministry of Education to look at our school roll. The Ministry
feel that we are at full capacity and would like us to put an enrolment scheme in place. This means setting up a zone
from where we can enrol students.
It is the Boards responsibility to manage the roll and we are keen to keep five teachers so we want to get an
accurate picture of our possible future enrolments.
If you are aware of any pre schoolers or children who may be looking at enrolling at Motupipi over the next few
years could you please let Jane know at school so we can follow it up.
We are currently contacting the pre schools to get an indication from them of families considering sending their
children to Motupipi.
The Board will be considering this at their next meeting.
Science Fair Tomorrow Friday 14th August
Tomorrow afternoon between 12.40pm and 2.50pm you are invited to visit the classes to see
the science displays the children have made and see some of the experiments in action. You
will also be encouraged to question the children on their experiments.
Over the past few weeks each class has been involved in doing various science experiments
and this is a chance to show what they have learnt.
We look forward to seeing you then.

Golden Bay Schools’ Cross Country
The weather was perfect for the Golden Bay Schools’ cross country held at
Collingwood on Monday. It was a great day with our children putting in a top effort.
The training done for our own cross country certainly helped with the children’s
stamina and also showed in the results.
We had all our school attending which meant as the children finished they had a
large team cheering and encouraging them on.
Thanks also to those parents who came along to support the children.
