1. AVAILABILITY • Pediatric Praziquantel
Consortium: International non-profit public-private partnership to develop a pediatric formulation for young children with Schistosomiasis1
• Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV): Partnership to develop a new anti-malarial compound to help fight malarial drug resistance
• Muse Auto CD4/CD4% system: A diagnostic kit for monitoring T cells in adults and children. Currently exploring the development of an HIV/Malaria diagnostic kit.
2. ACCESSIBILITY• Rural Pharmacy:
Pre-equipped shipping container “pharmacy” transported to rural communities in Africa
• River Ambulance: Helps expand access to health services and solutions to underserved local populations along the Narmada River in partnership with the NGO Narmada Samagra1
• Virtual Plant Team: Provide support, expertise & regular training to local party plant managers.2
3. AWARENESS• Su-Swastha project:
Community-level engagement & educative health programs on primary healthcare, women & children’s health & prevention in rural areas in India2
• Capacity Advancement Program: Collaboration in Africa to raise diabetes awareness
• Access dialogues: Platform for information exchange and best practice sharing among public and private sector stakeholders.1
4. AFFORDABILITY • WIPO Re:Search:
Open innovation platform for knowledge and IP sharing platform to accelerate early discovery for infectious diseases.
• Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany Praziquantel Donation Program: Since 2007, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany has been partnering with WHO in the fight against schistosomiasis. By the end of 2014, more than 54 million patients, primarily including children have been treated with praziquantel.
