Why local authorities rave about it: Many local authorities now regard the skills and knowledge to drive sustainable change as core and critical to build internal capability and therefore avoid excessive spending on consultants and contractors. We provide a real alternative to slash and burn approaches for reducing costs. We demystify and provide practical tools for making savings without losing the core of public service. Participants practise the skills and behaviours that establish whole systems’ change, so that it is real and sustainable (we don’t just focus on the theory). Why choose us? We contacted over 400 participants from 32 local authorities who undertook the training in 2011 and all who responded recommended it. Six months after the training, the research shows that: 99% of participants apply the training 61% use it as an integral part of their work on at least a weekly basis 70% of participants believe that the service transformation programme provided more or much more value than other training programmes they have done before Feedback from past attendees Colin Whitehouse, Capital Ambition led on the programme in which 286 participants from different London Councils attended: “This is a first class programme to build the internal service transformation skills of London local government. All the councils who participated rated it highly, with feedback including: ‘it was the most effective training our people have been on’ and ‘it is one of the best and most valuable programmes London Councils has done’. ‘Through the use of intensive simulated project environments, the participants easily bridged the gap between theory and the coalface of transformation projects and have an enjoyable time while learning all this.” 1 2 3 Our service transformation programme is widely regarded as the most advanced and effective training programme within the public sector. Our five-day masterclass has been specifically developed for senior managers to build in-house capability to deliver sustainable service transformation. Our service transformation programme is widely regarded as the most advanced and effective training programme within the public sector. Our five-day masterclass has been specifically developed for senior managers to build in-house capability to deliver sustainable service transformation. The focus is on experiential learning using business simulation environments: it doesn’t do ‘death by PowerPoint’.

It is based on leading improvement methodologies, such as lean and systems thinking, as well as relevant insight from psychology and management theory. This is a training programme that consulting firms in local government buy to train their people.
