Financial regulators are increasing regulatory requirements for transparency anddisclosureofclimate-relatedrisks,particularlytheECBwiththeGuidetoClimate-RelatedandEnvironmentalRisks.Investorsareincreasinglydemandingtransparencyofclimate-relatedrisks,throughtheTaskForceforClimate-RelatedFinancialDisclosures(TCFD).ThefinancialsectoritselfisalsobuildingmomentumthroughcollaborationsliketheNetworkforGreeningtheFinancialSystem(NGFS).Financialinstitutionsthereforemustdevelopanunderstandingofwhatclimatechangemeanstothem,whichactionstheycantake,andhowtheycanreportontheiractivities.
Participantswillgainanunderstandingofwhatclimateriskis,howitsmaterialtofinancialinstitutions, approaches toevaluating climate riskexposure, regulatory responsesandrequirements,howtoclosethedatagap,andstrategiesformanagingclimaterisk.Thecoursewillbehighly interactivewith theuseof case studiesandbreakoutgroups fordeeperdiscussionandlearning.

Stephanie’s background is in heavy industry, working on both the consulting and owner/operator
side before transitioning to risk management at the intersection of climate and finance. Stephanie
is COO for Climate Risk Services (CRS), a risk advisory firm focused on building climate-smart
organizations. CRS works with a focus on the financial sector, mining sector, and real estate sector,
supporting clients to incorporate climate risk into governance, strategy, risk management, and
data-based decision-making.
Gerhard’s career in climate finance spanned both the public and private sector, having worked
in consulting in Washington DC, environmental markets on Wall Street, and for the Dutch
government (Netherlands Enterprise Agency) to implement the Kyoto Protocol. He co-founded
Climate Risk Services (CRS) together with a non-profit, Climate Adaptation Services (a spin-out
from the Dutch government). Gerhard completed his MBA at Oxford in 2018 with distinction. He
studied environmental economics and international affairs at Columbia University in New York,
and Public Policy at the University of Amsterdam.
