OBRIGADO! THANK YOU! Saudações, Mais uma vez, celebramos as Festas em Honra de Santo António com grande sucesso. O dia não podia estar mais lindo. Muitíssimo obrigado aos grupos que decoraram e levaram os andores, os quais em-belezaram a nossa procissão. Muito obrigado por terem vindo participar da procissão assim como a todos os voluntários.

Com tudo organizado tudo correu bem. Brevemente vos daremos o relatório financeiro das duas festas, Santo Cristo e Santo António para assim verem como tudo correu. Sinceramente muito obri-gado a todos os que participaram durante o fim de semana, desde estarem presentes na procissão, liturgias, ou apenas por estarem a gozar da festa. O Dom Edgar da Cunha fez um brilhante trabalho ajudando ao sucesso das festas com a sua pregação. Alem de ter muitas preocupações de ser Bispo da Diocese de Fall River, agradeço-lhe de ter tido o tempo de estar connosco. Espero que ele tenha a oportunidade de voltar para participar em futuros eventos.

Tenho receio de me esquecer de tantas pessoas que ajudam mas vou tentar alguns: Philip Chaves e toda a Comis-são de Festas; e Eduardo e Lucília Sousa, Sra. Greetings, Once more we celebrated yet another successful Saint Anthony Feast and the weather couldn’t have been better. Thanks to the groups who decorated and carried the “andores,” which made our procession that much more beautiful and special. Many people commented that the “andores” not only embellished but completed the procession. Thank you for coming and special thanks to all the many volun-teers.

With everything in place all went well. Soon we will have the financial results for both feasts to see how we did in that regard. Thank you sincerely to every one of you who participated in any way during this weekend, from being present in the Procession, the liturgies and just for spending time at the feast. Bishop Edgar da Cunha of Fall River did a great job adding to the festivities with his preaching. In spite of his many responsibilities and duties as bishop of Fall River he spent the afternoon with us. I sincerely thank him for taking the time to be here. Hopefully he will have the opportunity to return in the future to participate in other events.

I fear I may miss someone but I have to single out a few people, Philip Chaves and the Feast Committee; Eddie & Lucy Sousa; Sra. Cini-ra, , Conceição Correia, Hermelinda Rego, Ines Achadinha, and all the kitchen companions, Mariazinha & João Sousa, and the kitchen staff who worked tirelessly, Eduarda & Jessica Sousa and family, Al & Hilda Domingos, Liz Carreiro, Sandra Lima, Alex Maciel, Rogerio Vicente; Rui Maciel on sardines and the men on the grills Manuel Silva & Jack Costa on the bar; Tony Pereira and family and all who con-tributed gifts for the bazaar or the kitchen; José Rego, and Joaquim Costa for organizing the procession and helping it to flow so beauti-fully through the streets of Cambridge; Luis Travassos, Dorothy Chaves & Philip Chaves and the choirs with music for our liturgies; Alda Ferreira and Iberia Frias, and those who assisted in all the liturgies and all who helped in any and many ways. I ask for forgiveness if I’ve forgotten anyone. From the bottom of my heart, I offer profound gratitude for all your hard work and ask many blessings upon you and your families.

12th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle B) "Do you not yet have faith?" Our Lord's question in today's Gospel frames the Sunday liturgies for the remainder of the year, which the Church calls "Ordinary Time." In the weeks ahead, the Church's liturgy will have us jour-neying with Jesus and His disciples, reliving their experi-ence of His words and deeds, coming to know and believe in Him as they did. Notice that today's Psalm almost pro-vides an outline for the Gospel. We sing of sailors caught in a storm; in their desperation, they call to the Lord and He rescues them. Mark's Gospel today also intends us to hear a strong echo of the story of the prophet Jonah. He, too, was found asleep on a boat when a life-threatening storm broke out that caused his fellow travelers to pray for deliverance, and then to marvel when the storm abated (see Jonah 1:3-16). But Jesus is something greater than Jonah (see Matthew 12:41). And Mark wants us to come to see what the apostles saw - that God alone has the power to rebuke the wind and the sea (see Isaiah 50:2; Psalm 18:16). This is the point of today's First Reading. If even the wind and sea obey Him, shouldn't we trust Him in the chaos and storms of our own lives? As with the apostles, the Lord has asked each of us to cross to the other side, to leave behind our old ways to travel with Him in the little ship of the Church. In their fear today, they call Him, "Teacher." And it is only faith in His teaching that can save us from perishing. We should trust in Christ, and like Christ - who was able to sleep through the storm, confident that God was with Him (see Psalm 116:6; Romans 8:31). We should live in thanksgiving for our salvation, as today's Epistle tells us - as new creations, no longer for ourselves but for Him who died for our sake. God does not want dead works or animal sacrifices. He wants our own flesh and blood, our own lives, consecrated to Him, offered as a living sacrifice. This is the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving that we sing of in today's Psalm. This is the Eucharist.

The assessment is an amount determined by our previous donations averaged in with our collec-

tions. When a parish achieves this amount it receives a rebate. Because we attained our assessment

the parish did receive a rebate. Sincere thanks to all who participate in the appeal.

From the 2014 Catholic Appeal we have received to date a total of $ 6,162.75 in rebates. Because we

surpassed our donor goal as well as the assessment we will receive an additional 5% in our final re-

bate check. This is all due to your generosity and support! Thank You!
