•Intergenerational Learning (IL) describes the way that
people of all ages can learn together and from each other.
•Serious game games that have an explicit and carefully
thought-out educational purpose and are not intended to be
played primarily for amusement (Abt, C.,1970)
•Location-based game game that evolves and
progresses via a player's location through the support of
some kind of localization technology,, like GPS
Aims
• Intergenerational Learning
• Improving of nature conservation of protected areas
• Promoting volunteering both between youth and
seniors
• Making education more attractive for students and
adults.
• Fighting stereotypes related to age: combines skills,
experience and knowledge of older people with the
dynamism, energy and enthusiasm of young people
• Integrating nature conservation, IL and ICT
• 7 teen agers
• 3 seniors

1. Presentation of participants and description of the
Natura 2000 site by the expert
2. Presentation of a demo developed with ARIS
(Cacciucco alla Livornese)
3. Collection of stories of elders on the protected
area
4. Visit to the conservation of the protected area.
5. Practical activities for the conservation of the
protected area.
6. Selection of a story to be played
7. Production of a location-based game that regards
the promotion and/or the conservation of the
protected area using the open source platform

• A training workshop and webinars for learning facilitators.
• A training course to pilot-test the learning methodology of INVOLEN with small
groups of school students and seniors in each country.
• An international workshop in Hungary to evaluate the results of the piloting.
• Five workshops, one in each participating country to present the results of the pilot-
tests and launch the five national competitions.
• A competition in the project-countries leading to awards for the best volunteer
conservationists’ games.
• An online helpdesk to support the volunteers’ groups who wish to enter the
competition.
• An International Conference in Florence to discuss project results exploitation and
grant three European awards for the best games.
