6. For each of these short chord progressions utilizing root position 7th chords on a single staff: 1) Identify the Major key 2) analyze the 7th chords (Roman Numerals below the staff). 3) Place the correct chord symbol for each chord above the staff.

Only major 7ths, dominant 7ths and minor 7ths are used. (No half diminished or fullly diminished chords)The first is done for you as an example.

7. In practice, the 5th of many 7th chords is often omitted, and the root doubled. This is due to it's relative stregnth as the first overtone of the chord root and is largly unecessary in conveying the chords quality. Much like playing a triad without the 5th: the presence of a 3rd, major or minor, is enough for the ear to recognize a chord function in a musical context.

For these three short progressions:

1) Identify the Major key 2) analyze the 7th chords (Roman Numerals below the staff). Many do not contain the 5th of the chord.3) Place the correct chord symbol for each chord above the staff.

Only major 7ths, dominant 7ths and minor 7ths are used. (No half diminished or fullly diminished chords)All chords are in root position (the root is in the Bass)
