Sort of like of Harriet the Spy meets Sherlock Holmes…

The story line is fast-paced and loaded with action and plenty of twists as Ingrid tries to solve the case out of fear of lock up. The support cast either enhances her sleuthing, her personality, or her hometown. Though her older much bigger brother got away with sibling violence sending the wrong message to the youthful audience, readers of all ages will appreciate Ingrid Levin Hill, teen detective.

POP as a title contains a double meaning -- one, it is the nickname of Charlie Popovich, an ex-NFL star suffering from Alzheimer's, and two, it is the sound you get when you slam your helmet into someone in football.

It comes as no surprise, but "Pop" likes to pop people, and our protagonist, Marcus Jordan, finds out the hard way when he meets the 50-something Charlie at the public park one day while tossing around a football. The unlikely meeting leads to regular practice between the old-timer and the youngster, who is new to town and anxious to try out for the undefeated high school team.

When D. J. decides to try out for the Red Bend football team, even though she's been secretly training (and falling for) Brian Nelson, the cute quarterback from Hawley, Red Bend's rival, she becomes the talk of the town. Suddenly, her family has quite a bit to say.

1962 in Jackson Mississippi, black maids raised white children and ran households. Paid poorly, they often had to use separate toilets from the family, and watched the children they cared for embrace bigotry.

Miss Skeeter, a naïve, young white woman, is an aspiring writer. She conducts a series of interviews with local black maids. Their risk is great, possibly deadly; still, Aibileen and Minny agree to participate. Tension pervades the novel as events are told by these three memorable women.
