STEWARDSHIP / CORRESPONSABILIDAD

Naaman was cleansed of leprosy and returned to Elisha “with his whole retinue to the man

of God” (2 KGS: 14-17). But, when ten lepers met Jesus on his way to Jerusalem, although they were cleansed by Jesus, only a Samaritan returned to thank Him. If we deny Jesus, like those who failed to return, “He will deny us” (2 TIM 8-13). Jesus cannot deny Himself.

It is the mission of religious education here at Santa Cruz - the 1,700 enrolled in RE classes, the grades from pre-K to 8th at Santa Cruz Catholic School, and those in RCIA and Youth Ministry - to present the Jesus history, tradition, and scripture into a living and consuming belief. We are grateful for all the sisters, teachers, catechists, and volunteers who make this mission possible.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN/CAMPAÑA DE CAPITALDear Friends in Christ—

The first phase of our parish capital campaign is off to a fantastic start! Since our initial announcement, we have selected a campaign theme and prayer; have wrapped up recruiting the campaign’s leadership and started work on all of the campaign materials.

As you know, our campaign theme will be Building for Our Future. I think this campaign theme captures the spirit of Santa Cruz parish: our constant effort to grow in the faith of God and our hope to put the parish on solid footing for our future genera-tions.

I invite you to pray our campaign prayer to help direct us in this important project.

Heavenly Father,You have blessed our lives and our parish in so many ways.

As we stand together today, we express our gratitude for the beautiful facilities you have provided for us. We ask that you send down your Holy Spirit to direct our efforts, unify us, and bless our Building for Our Future campaign. May the Spirit foster in our hearts and in our parish community the coopera-tion and stewardship that is needed to make our goal a reality. For we know that all things work through You and through You all things can be accomplished.

We ask this through Christ, our Lord.Amen.Please continue to pray for this campaign on a daily basis if

you can. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, all things are pos-sible.

Blessings,

Father Kirby“Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.”

Matthew 10:8

Padre Celestial,Tú has bendecido nuestras vidas y nuestra parroquia de muchas mane-

ras.

YEAR OF FAITHAs these harvest months unfold, God’s plan is that the fruit of the earth is to be shared by all. The goods of the earth are for our benefit as long as we do not hoard these blessings at the expense of others’ needs. How do you demonstrate gratitude to God for the blessings of the earth? Are you satisfied with the goods you have? How do you share God’s blessings with others?

News from the Principal’s DeskWe are happy that our standardized testing for the year is officially behind us. This is our final week of the first nine weeks, so teachers and students will be busy getting the last tests, projects, and homework turned in and graded. Report cards will be sent home with the students on the 23rd of October.

We have a school holiday on Monday in honor of Columbus Day. Then, next Monday, the 21st there is no school for the students while the teachers go to the Mayborn Convention Center in Waco for the Diocese of Austin’s Catholic Schools Teacher In-service Day. Sr. Carol Ann Cimino will present on the New Catholic Schools National Standards of Excellence.

The 8th graders will be spending the day at San Juan Diego High School on Tuesday for their “Shadow Day.” They will tour the school and learn about what San Juan Diego has to offer them for high school.

Also, the 5th graders leave for Camp Kappe on Tuesday, October 15th for their environmental education trip. They will spend four days at Camp Kappe, an accredited school in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. While there, they will be joining two other schools as they learn about protecting our world’s natural resources and environment.

Have a Blessed week,Mrs. Flanagan

SANTA CRUZ CATHOLIC SCHOOL
