Super Science SaturdaySuper Science Saturday

Your yellow wrist band is your ticket into the Australian Museum and the entire Super Science Saturday program. With live animals, face-painting, hands-on experiments and sweet shows, there are activities that will appeal to the littlies, teenagers and the parents. Super Science Saturday is about showcasing the science behind one of Sydney’s most loved institutions.

All workshops, shows and activities are set to entertain and engage curious minds of all ages.

Please note that seating will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis for shows and workshops on the day.

No prams are allowed in the theatre spaces. Pram parking is available.

Expo

Australia’s top science institutions and organisations come together to provide interactive booths and encourage people to get excited about the future of science. Ask all the tricky questions and meet the experts from universities, research institutions, technology developers and many others. In addition, meet Adam Spencer, the Australian Museum’s Sleek Geek and author of Number Games and divide some math with him over a few pi’s.

Take a hands-on approach, and experience science for all ages with science experiments, live animals, coding, explosions, and laughs galore! You might see a robot or two and for the keen beans, get their science face on with our face painters 10am to 3pm.

Super Cool Science Show

Sub-zero science for the whole family! Get set for some serious brain freeze in a scientific exploration of extreme cold. Cryogenic liquid nitrogen creates clouds of fog, mountains of bubbles, and snap-frozen food, with explosive demonstrations of temperature and pressure. This fun-filled and interactive show is packed with laughs and audience participation.

Volcanoes, Eruptions & more….

The world as we know it has been developed by movements through eruptions, earthquakes, meteors and tectonic plate shifts. Discover their scientific power in this interactive show.

Macquarie Interactive Science Experience

Make slime with glue and borax, reveal hidden messages with turmeric and make Betadine© messages disappear with vitamin C.

Aboriginal Bush Food & Medicine

Witness the melting, freezing and evaporating powers of energy!

Using a variety of cutting edge fiery and explosive demonstrations, you’ll experience an exciting and engaging science stage show while learning about the world around you!

Venue: Science Studio, Level 2

Time: 30 minutes shows starting at 10.15am, 11.15am, 12.15pm, 1.15pm, 2.15pm and 3.15pm

STEMania!

A fact-filled theatrical presentation using action packed sketches, appealing characters, comedy, high energy and audience interaction that will educate kids and adults about Science and Technology. Played out through a series of theatrical sketches to create hilarious and fact-filled scenes that educate on STEM subjects, STEMania uses suggestions from the audience where performers will build educational sketches, creating a unique and customised performance with each presentation.
