Can you believe it’s February? The good part is that spring is around the corner. I hope you haven’t had to deal with the awful flu; there is a special news article on page 2 on how to keep yourself safe during this flu season. I also hope that you are staying safe in the bitterly cold temperatures and winter weather. Look inside for tips on how to be safe on the ice.

February is love month, which makes me think of my love for chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate! Have fun making your favorite recipe this month. Take time to enjoy the 28 days that this month gives us to live and love.

Please complete the Homemaker Ballot and submit it by March 1 to this office. This ballot is for future programming in 2018-2019. Your input is vital to the ongoing success of the Homemakers’ lessons and programs. The ballot can be mailed to 101 Lakeview Court, Frankfort, KY 40601

Make sure to register for the March Insurance program, Insurance 101. More information can be found on page 11. Be sure to check on the FCCES webpage and Facebook page for upcoming events and activities which may be of interest to you. Message from President, Reeca Carver:

February is a month for love, with February 14th being one of the most retailed holidays to purchase items for your loved ones. But remember you don’t have to always purchase something to show that you love someone or care about them. Sometimes the homemade cards, gifts, or special prepared meal are the most treasured. But this year, I think just the simple 3 words “I love you” or “I cherish you” are the best gifts or acknowledgement of Valentine’s Day this year anyone

could have. There is just too many tragedies and sickness that has happened in our state and country. I am sure those parents of the Marshall County High School shooting would totally agree. If they could just hear the voice of their child or be sure they tell their children that they love them would be all they need this year. We just don’t take time to say the things we take for granted until sometimes it’s too late. So as I have stated many times, make your minutes count and tell the ones you love “I love YOU! For you!” so they know that you love them instead of counting your minutes of the many tasks at hand in this rat race world we live it. My favorite quote of all times that my dad always repeated to me “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery, Today is a Gift so we call it the Present” so give your loved ones today the gift of your presence every day and not just on special holidays as everyday can be a holiday because that is one more day of life’s blessings!

I look forward to seeing you at the Franklin County Council meeting February 6th at 5:00PM with snow date February 8th at the extension office. I look forward to seeing the wonderful craftsmanship in your cultural arts items remember as long as you made them within the last 2 years it is eligible to enter. During the meeting we will recognize the winners and we will be starting to make plans for the annual meeting. It is hard to believe it is already that time of year. Before a blink of an eye it will be here and spring flowers will be returning. If no one has told you lately “I Cherish YOU!!! Franklin County Homemakers!!!

So blessed to have Tamera back, if you see her be sure and touch her lightly as she still has more healing to occur but at least she is able to get out and about. We also look forward to Carla’s return as you may not know she has been out sick but should be recovering and returning soon. Thank God for these ladies and may he continue to heal them. Beth has been great to keep the office going and we thank her as well and need to remember her in our prayers too!
