Media The lighting in this scene emphasises the two characters standing at the front of the shot. Making them stand out from the others. We also have lights showing the man in the background, showing that he is also a very important part of the scene. The camera angle used is a long medium shot, showing all three characters, and emphasising the pool cues in their hand. From this we can see that they are hustlers, we can see this from the clothes they are wearing (suits), showing that they are professional and part of a mob or gang. The black and white style that has been used is very powerful; this gives a very old fashioned look, but also stylish but also sleek personality of the characters. Once again signifying the way the characters act and the time that they are in. This scene is a very clotted image, having many different people involved; having the main character placed at the front, signals the importance of him. And also having the rest of the characters looking at him. Also the lighting involved is focused at the character at the front, lighting up his face and parts of the body that are important in the scene. Having every character in suits shows the professionalism of them, implying that they are smart, maybe very successful people within the film. Also pool players have always worn smart clothes so it again portrays the characters as pool players, but them having the cigarette, make them look casual, implying the hustler look. The clothing worn is very effective in the era that this film is set. The suits being worn all show a smart casual look from all characters, the hats in this scene suggest more the time era of the film, portraying an importance of these characters, making them stand out. The scenery in this image still, suggests a bar or pub like setting. The banisters in the background suggest this. And the group of people and the way they are sitting, dressed and acting in the image.

The lighting in this scene emphasises the two

characters standing at the front of the shot. Making them stand out from the others. We also have lights

showing the man in the background, showing that he is also a very important part of the scene.

The camera angle

used is a long medium shot, showing all three

characters, and emphasising the pool cues in their hand.

From this we can see that they are hustlers, we can see this from

the clothes they are wearing (suits), showing that they are

professional and part of a mob or gang.

The black and

white style that has been used is very powerful;

this gives a very old fashioned look, but also

stylish but also sleek personality of the characters.

Once again signifying the way the characters act

and the time that they are in.

This is a medium shot of the character, showing his importance and all his body

motions in the scene, emphasising his action in the scene

The camera has blurred out the

background, this is a very effective effect, showing the

importance of the character in the shot, and making sure all

attention if placed on the character.

The lighting in

this scene, is again aimed to focus on his face,

hands and his cue. This is done so that the

audience are drawn to these parts of the scene

Another factor that suggests wealth in this

character is that he is large, in these times, the larger you were suggested an importance and a wealth about you or your family.

His clothing suggests

and importance about the character, also suggesting a

richness about him, maybe he is a wealthy man in the film?

Another factor that suggests wealth in this character is that

he is large, in these times, the larger you were suggested an

importance and a wealth about you or your family.

This is another shot that uses the lighting to suggest importance. Having the light above the character taking the shot, shows that that’s where the director wants the audiences attention. But however the character in the background is shown as important because of his clothing. The dark clack jacket with a white shirt, making him stands out. With the smug look on his face, showing that he is heavily involved in the scene.

There is alot in this scene, giving the impression of a pub or bar setting, the banisters, the type of lights used are all very old, cheap, but traditional for this time era.

The bar in the background of this scene, also suggests the type of setting this is, also giving a suggesting of what the atmosphere may be when playing pool.

The is more set out to look like a pool club, not so much

a pub setting, not being able to see the banisters or people drinking, looking more casual.

The characters in this

scene are more dressed down as well, looking

more casual than usual, not wearing jackets or hats. All in white shirts.

The bigger character however is showed as

more important still by wearing a waistcoat,

typical attire for professional pool and

snooker players, signifying that he is the

most important character in the scene.

The setting in this scene looks very enclosed and

undercover, having the blinds closed, signifying an

importance within the characters, whether it

being involved in the game they are playing or

the conversation taking place.

The lighting in this scene is

very important, making the character look important and

smooth, showing that the conversation could be deep

and crucial to the film.

This scene again is very

dark, with all the blinds pulled close, showing

the importance of these characters and the situation they are in.

The character himself has portrayed himself as

important, by leaning over the table like he has,

suggests an arrogance about him, signifying that

he is very important to the scene and not just

another character in the film.
