The state of Michigan is moving toward online assessments, such as the MEAP and ACT.

Some online assessments of the MEAP and MME will be administered during the 2014-15 school year.

ALL paper testing will be completely eliminated by 2017-18.

In a University of Southern Maine study, within five years of implementing a 1:1 program found:

• Percentage of students meeting Maine’s writing proficiency standard nearly doubled when laptops were used for writing drafts and final copy.

• 80% of students using 1 to 1 reported an increased editing and self-correcting of their work.

• More than 80% of teachers reported their students' writing had improved. Writing scores improved regardless of whether the writing assessments were administered online or with pencil and paper.
