Rutgers Study Abroad – Incoming Student Application Steps

1. Have students go to the specific link that is included in the body of this email.

They will then see this screen. They should click on the No radio button.

2. They should click No here as well.

3. Click on “I am an applicant at a foreign institution”

4. There should be only one choice on this screen. If it is the wrong institution please contact us

before proceeding.

5. They should enter in their personal information here then click Create Account.

6. They will receive an email from Rutgers Study Abroad with their log-in information. They should

click on the link at the bottom of the email.

7. They will need to enter in their username and password as indicated in the email.

8. They should then change their password. They will need to create a password that matches the

guidelines listed on this page.

9. There should only be one option for them to choose on this page. If the student is applying for

Spring 2011 and Fall 2011, we will need to create a separate application for them for the Fall.

We can do this internally. Please let us know ahead of time if any ofyour students will be doing

this. There are different funding requirements for students who will be at Rutgers over two

different academic years.

10. They should then complete the fields on this page.

11. At the bottom of this page the student will be asked to supply a password. The password for the

application is password (as of right now we are planning on keeping the same password for

subsequent semesters. We will notify you if this changes.)

12. The student will also be asked to provide a few addresses. If any of the address fields are not

applicable they can just write N/A on the first line of that field.

13. After the student completes the required fields, they will see this screen. From this screen the

necessary supporting documents can be downloaded and then uploaded once completed. The

required documents are:

a. Transcript – We do not need the original transcript as long as the scanned transcript is a

clear copy.

b. Proof of funding - We will still need to receive the original documents to process the

DS2019, but if they are uploaded first we can review them to make sure everything is in

order.

c. Disability/Special Needs Questionnaire

d. English Language Questionnaire

e. Housing Questionnaire

f. Passport Copy upload

g. Statement of Interest (This is a new requirement. We are interested in learning why

students have chosen to apply to study at Rutgers. We are only looking for a short

essay, 1-2 pages. If they already submitted this to your office for their application they

are welcome to upload it.)

h. The Recommendations section will not appear on their application.

14. They should also click on the My Home tab and upload a jpeg photo of themselves, and enter in

a secondary email address if they want and a cc email address (if you would like to be cc’d on all

emails sent to students you can have them enter your email address here)

15. Once they are accepted, they will receive an email from us. They can then log back into their

application. They will also be able to print out their Acceptance Letter.

16. Students will then be asked to submit their post-acceptance materials and read over some

learning documents (All materials previously submitted will be checked off on this screen)

These are:

a. Immunization Record – They can scan this and upload it to their application. They

should also bring the original with them to Rutgers.

b. Course Selection form – We will send an email to students once the Spring 2011 courses

are available online.

c. Flight Itinerary – Once they book their ticket we ask that they enter this information.

d. Arrival Instructions – Instructions on how to get to Rutgers from nearby airports.

e. Rutgers Health Insurance Exemption – Students who would like to exempt out of the

Rutgers Insurance policy should complete this form and provide proof of coverage.

They can bring this with them when they arrive. If you or your students have any

questions about this feel free to contact us.

Students will be able to log back into their application at any time. They will also be able to view past

messages sent to them through the site. And they can change their personal details if necessary.
