1 Kings 8:26 And now, O God of Israel, let Thy Word, I pray thee, be verified, which Thou spakest unto Thy servant David my father.

Solomon is calling on God to continue to fulfill His Promises that He made to David.

It’s okay to bring Promises made that we have not yet seen fulfilled before our Lord.

1 Kings 8:27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain Thee; how much less this house that I have builded?

God is everywhere all the time.

Psalm 139 7 Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy Presence? 8 If I ascend up into Heaven, Thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the utter-most parts of the sea; 10 Even there shall Thy Hand lead me, and Thy Right Hand shall hold me.

No matter how difficult the place, our God is always present to walk with us.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from Thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to Thee.

There’s an all-seeing eye watching you.

You can run, but you can’t hide.

[Text] 28 Yet have Thou respect unto the prayer of Thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which Thy servant prayeth before Thee today: 29

That Thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which Thou hast said, My Name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which Thy servant shall make toward this place.

We want God to hear and answer our prayers.

1 John 5 14 And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His Will, He heareth us: 15 And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.

When we are in God’s Will, and the prayer we pray is according to His Will,

We know that God will hear and answer our prayer.

[Text] 30 And hearken Thou to the supplication of Thy servant, and of Thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear Thou in Heaven Thy dwelling place: and when Thou hearest, forgive.

1 John 1 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

31 If any man trespass against his neighbor, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and the oath come before Thine altar in this house:32 Then hear Thou in Heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

Amen! This is God’s Will; we know that

He will hear and answer.

33 When Thy people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against Thee, and shall turn again to Thee, and confess Thy Name, and pray, and make supplication unto Thee in this house: 34 Then hear Thou in Heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their fathers.

If we are being defeated by the devil, sin is to blame.

drinking, fornication, or others

It may be sins of omission:Neglecting prayer, neglecting Bible study,

neglecting church and worship

It’s all sin from which we need to repent.

35 When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess Thy Name, and turn from their sin, when Thou afflictest them: 36 Then hear Thou in Heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that Thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon Thy land, which thou hast given to Thy people for an inheritance.

If your living dries up,Search your heart.

37 If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or if there be caterpiller; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be; 38 What prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:

When troubles abound on every hand, pray and search your heart, turn from any sin.

Page 15: 1 kings 8c

39 Then hear Thou in Heaven Thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart Thou knowest; (for Thou, even Thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;) 40 That they may fear Thee all the days that they live in the land which Thou gavest unto our fathers.

When we confess our sins and turn from them,God will always forgive us and bless us.

James 4 1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? 2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

We need to be certain we are asking for a good thing for a good reason.

And yes, we must humble ourselves and ask!

1 Peter 3 7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with (your wife) according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life;

that your prayers be not hindered.

Your relationship with your mate is important to your prayer life.

We can’t be close to God when we are fighting and scratching, fussing and cussing with our mate.

Your family life matters!

Prayer should always include worship.By definition, worship is a part of prayer, and

then secondarily supplication.

1 Kings 8 28 Yet have Thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which Thy servant prayeth before Thee today:

Psalm 150 1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in His sanctuary: praise Him in the firmament of His Power. 2 Praise Him for His mighty acts: praise Him according to His excellent greatness. … 6 Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Psalm 100 1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before His Presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His Name. 5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His Truth endureth to all generations.
