younger history of the airfield:
1994 - 1996 state owned
1996 - 2000 first privatised operation by an Austrian-related company, development conception without political support
2000 operation bankrupt, city of Eberswalde founded Tower Finow GmbH as new intermediate operational company
early 2002 a consortium of regional private business people and enterprises (WVZ Wirtschafts-Verkehrs-Zentrum Finow = Business- Traffic- Centre Finow) buys the operations from the city of Eberswalde
late 2002 WVZ buys the ground lease from the state
2003 WVZ / Tower Finow GmbH starts with the development, gaining political support for the conception of a regional airport

Eberswalde - Finow Airfield (EDAV) 11/2005
main reasons for the engagement of WVZ:• loyality to the region, preventing the airfield from getting closed
• good chance to earn much money on a long term, the conception is based on the following facts:
• first class strategic location in regard to traffic, logistics and the conurbation of north Berlin/Brandenburg
• still missing alternate for the future single airport BBI
• still missing functional regional airports around Berlin
• LCC’s looking for alternatives to BBI for serving Berlin
• enough space, the ground lease allows an airport with 240 ha plus an industrial zone of 150 ha
• own business interests in the improvement and development of the airfield and industrial zone around
