Indian Ai r Force invites applications from unmarried male Indian citizens (citizens of Nepal are alsoeligible) for selection test in August 2010 to join as Airmen in Group Y (Non-Technical) {Except for AutoTechnician, Ground Training Instructor and Indian Air Force Police trades}. THE RECRUITMENT TEST ISNOT FOR SELECTION AS OFFICERS/ PILOTS/NAVIGATORS.

    ELIGIBILITY2. EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

    Passed Intermediate/10+2/equivalent examinations with Science, Arts or Commerce subjects withminimum 50% marks in aggregate and pass in each subject or 03 years Diploma in any stream ofEngineering from a Government recognised Polytechnic/ Institute shall be permitted to appear for GroupY {Except for Auto Tech, GTI & IAF/P trades} in Indian Air Force.Note: Exact aggregate percentage of marks upto first place of decimal for all subjects as men-tioned in the Marks Sheet of Intermediate/10+2/equivalent examination (For example, 49.9%should NOT be rounded off to 50%). Vocational Courses conducted by CBSE and Kerala Boardregonised by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) are only eligible.

    3. President, Central Airmen Selection Board reserves the right to shortlist the applications on thebasis of available vacancies and number of eligible applicants.

    4. AGE LIMIT. Born between 01 January 1990 to 28 February 1994 (both days inclusive).5. MEDICAL STANDARDS (a) Height:Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cm (b) Chest: Minimum range of

    expansion: 5 cm (c) Weight: Proportionate to height and age. (d) Vision: Minimum Visual Standard:Unaided 6/36, corrected to at least 6/9 for each eye with spectacles, Dioptectric power not exceeding +3.5 Dioptres in any axis. Full field of vision and Defective safe colour vision CP-II / III. (Candidateshould bring latest prescription and spectacles for corrected vision, if used). (e) Corneal Sur-gery (PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable. (f) Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hearforced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately. (g) Dental: Should have healthygums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points. (h) Health: Candidate should be free frommedical or surgical deformity. He should be free from all communicable diseases and skin ailments.Candidate must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, climate andterrain.

    TERMS AND CONDITIONS6. Tenure & Training. Enrolment is for an initial period of 20 years extendable up to the age of 57 years.

    Initially candidates will be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) for 12 weeks at Basic TrainingInstitute, Belgaum (Karnataka). On successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be allocated tradesand sent for trade training of specified durations. Training is however liable to be terminated at any timeif the trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness anddiscipline or is found to be medically unfit. AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF TRAINING, THEAIRMEN WILL BE DEPLOYED ON GROUND BASED JOBS AS PER THEIR ALLOTTED TRADES.

    7. Pay & Allowances. During training, a stipend ofRs. 5,700/-pm will be paid. On completion of training thestarting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay will be Rs. 13,284/-pm (approximately) which,in subsequent years, may rise up to Rs 25,590/- pm (approximately) depending upon the rank attained.In addition, perks such as Ration, Clothing, Medical Facilities, Accommodation, Leave TravelConcession (LTC) etc. are also provided as per the existing rules.

    8. Promotion. Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Warrant Officer (MWO). Opportunities tobecome a Commissioned Officer also exist for those airmen who qualify the prescribed examinations,later during their service career.

    SELECTION PROCEDURE9. Wri tten Test. Eligible candidates will be sent Admit Cards to appear for the test scheduled to be held

    during August 2010 at the examination centres listed at para 15. Candidates will be tested in English asper CBSE syllabus of AISSCE and Reasoning & General Awareness (RGA). Question papers will beobjective type and bilingual (English & Hindi) except English Paper. Duration of Written Test will be 45minutes. CANDIDATES ARE TO QUALIFY IN EACH PAPER SEPARATELY. Results of the written test will

    be declared on the same day.10. Physical Fitness Test (PFT).All candidates who pass the written test are to undergo Physical Fitness

    Test (PFT) on the same or the next day. PFT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 8 minutes.Candidates completing the PFT in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds will be awarded additional marks ona sliding scale. Candidates are advised to bring theirsports shoes and shorts.

    11. Interview.Candidates who have passed the written test and PFT will be interviewed. Working knowledgeof English is a prerequisite.

    12. MEDICAL EXAMINATION. Candidates who qualify in the interview will be medically examined. MedicalExamination will be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards. Candidatesdeclared Temporary Medically Unfit will be required to report to the respective Airmen Selection Centre(ASC) within a maximum period of 42 days for review from the date of Recruiting Medical Examination.Candidates declared Medically Unfit can avail the option for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) against theirUnfitness by depositing Rs. 40/- in a Government Treasury/RBI/SBI through Military Receivable Order(MRO). The application for AMB along with original copy of MRO, Xerox copy of Unfitness Certificate andPostal Stamp worth Rs. 25/- affixed on a self addressed envelope are to be submitted to the respective

    ASC for processing within seven working days from the date of issue of Medical Certificate.NOTE :- Candidates are advised to get tartar & stains removed from their teeth before appearing for the

    written test. Ears should be free of wax.GENERAL

    13. (a) Candidates must indicate three choices of the examination centre in order of preference. However,Central Airmen Selection Board reserves the right to allot any centre other than those mentioned in theapplication.(b) REQUESTS FOR CHANGE OF EXAMINATION CENTRE OR DATE OF SELECTION TESTWILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED. (c) Candidates not reporting for the test on due date and time will not beaccommodated on other dates/shifts. (d) Incomplete applications will be rejected. (e) Candidatesshould be prepared to stay for the entire duration of the tests under their own arrangement. No TA/DA will be admissible. (f) Upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 22 years.

    14. Candidate declared Permanently Medically Unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital or dischargedfrom the Indian Air Force/Indian Army/Indian Navy or dismissed from any Government Organisation

    for any reason earlier are NOT TO APPLY.15. Examination Centres. Ambala, New Delhi, Kanpur, Barrackpore, Jodhpur, Mumbai, Bangalore,Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Bihta, Guwahati, Secunderabad, Kochi and Bhopal.(Note : -These are likely to be activated depending upon the response of candidates and testing capacity).

    HOW TO APPLY16. Application Form. APPLICATION SHOULD BE IN A4 SIZE PAPER ONLY. Nonstandard application

    formats will be rejected. The following are to be sent along with the application:-(a) Three copies of unattested recent ( taken on or after 15 May 2010) passport size COLOUR PHOTO-GRAPH (front portrait without headgear except for Sikhs), ONE of which is to be pasted on the applicationform and the other two are to be stapled to the top left corner of the application form. THE PHOTO-GRAPH IS TO BE TAKEN WITH CANDIDATE HOLDING A BLACK SLATE IN FRONT OF HIS CHESTWITH HIS NAME, DATE OF BIRTH AND DATE OF PHOTOGRAPH CLEARLY WRITTEN ON IT WITHWHITE CHALK IN CAPITAL LETTERS. Photographs should be only on good quality Photo Paper. A totalof six photoraphs are required at Examination venue.(b) Attested copies of Matriculation Certificate in support of Date of Birth. Attested copies of Marks Sheet& Certificates of Educational Qualification. Candidates who have appeared for qualifying examination in2010 can send e_Marks Sheet.(c) One unstamped self addressed 24 cm x 10 cm WHITE ENVELOPE of good quality, stapled/pinnedwith the application form.

    17. Candidates are to bring with them the following at the time of examination.(a) Four copies of their colour photographs which was submitted at the time of application.(b) Original Matriculation Certificate and Marks Sheet with three copies of each for verification of date of

    7. SELECTION PROCEDURE:Selection will be on the basis of Written Test and/or Group Discussions,Interview depending on the number of applications received for each

    (s) PWD candidates intending to use services of Scribe may do so attheir own cost. The academic qualification of the scribe should beone grade lower than the eligibility criteria stipulated for the post.The scribe should possess less marks than the candidate and notmore than 60 % in his own academic stream.     Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are co-educational, fully residential schools up to Senior Secondarylevel and are located mainly in rural areas. At present JNVs are functioning all over the country.

    They being fully residential institutions, the teachers are required to stay in the Vidyalaya Campus.In addition to normal teaching duties, the teachers are required to perform additional responsibilitiesattached with residential system of schooling like House Mastership, remedial and

    supervisory studies, organization of co-curricular activities, escorting of students on migrationand looking after students welfare in general. During the period of probation of the incumbent,performance in all these areas is also assessed, in addition to the teaching ability to determine

    Eligibility of Applicants for PGTs, TGTs & Miscellaneous Categories of TGTsThe Cut-Off date for determining various eligibility criteria (Educational Qualifications, age limit

    etc.) will be 1/4/2010. Applicants must satisfy about their eligibility as on 1/4/2010 before applyingAGE RELAXATIONMaximum relaxation in upper age relaxation will be as under :-

    (a) Upto a maximum of Five years in the case of SC/ST candidates. .(b) Upto a maximum of Three years in the case of OBC candidates.

    (c ) Upto a maximum of Five years for persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State ofJammu & Kashmir during 1/1/80 to 31/12/89.

    (d) Upto a maximum of Ten years in respect of women candidates.(e) Upto a maximum of Five years in the case of Govt. servants/NVS regular employees.(f ) An ex-servicemen who has put in not less than 6 months continuous service in the Armed

    Forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) shall be allowed to deduct the periods of such servicefrom his/her actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit

    prescribed for the post of more than 3 years he/she shall be deemed to satisfy the conditionregarding age limit. This is applicable for the posts of Trained Graduate Teachers.

    (g) Upto a maximum of Ten years in the case of SC/ST candidates and 8 years in the case of

    OBC candidates serving as Govt. employees in accordance with instructions or ordersissued by the Govt. of India. An applicant claiming age relaxation under this para should

    produce a certificate from his/her employer to the effect that he/she is a Govt. servant ason the date of advertisement.

    4. No fee is required to be paid by candidates belonging to SC/ST/Physically Handicapped and Ex-Servicemen categories.
