What it doesPIRANHA is a piece of equipment to make landscaping quick and easy. The rotor turns in a counter rotatingmotion, putting rock and debris between the end shields while processing the dirt through the machine,leaving an excellently prepared seed bed. Operating the PIRANHA with the gauge wheels down puts thePIRANHA in the landscaping mode. Operating the PIRANHA with the gauge wheels in the up position putsthe machine in the tilling mode. Flip up the end shields and angle the PIRANHA to windrow rock and debriseither by manual or hydraulic turn. PIRANHA features a float or rigid center link control as standard equip-ment on tractor models. The float setting is used for consistent rotor to ground engagement and the rigidsetting is used for grinding.

Choose from slip clutch or shear pin. Slip clutch will auto-matically slip with the machine is jamed. Remove thejamed material and the slip clutch will automaticly reset itsself and your back to work. There is a down side to a slipclutch it requires maintenance by keeping it clean and dry.You have to run in the clutch periodically. The shear pin islow maintenance and trouble free. In the event you damagethe shear bolt these can easily be replaced and it is recom-mended that extras are kept with the machine.

Drive System PTO & Gear Box Tractor

PXT,PTX,PTTractors feature a 540 RPM PTO drive. Choosing the correct Piranha for the trac-tor is very important not only for safety but performance. Keep in mind not only ish.p. a consideration but weight also. Choosing a Piranha that’s too heavy for thetractor will cause a safety and performance problem. Choosing a Piranha that’stoo light will cause a durability problem.

How it worksPower comes from the tractor 540 PTO through a PTO shaft into a slip clutch then into a right angle 2 to 1gear box. Unit equipped up with a shear pin assembly that is mounted after the gear box. Now the power istransfered throught a drive shaft into the chain case. A top sprocket and lower rotor sprocket is connectedwith a drive chain. The chain tension is self adjusting.

Tractors features a hydraulic drive. Choosing the correctPiranha for the skid steer is very important not only forsafety but performance. Keep in mind not only is hydraulicpower (gallons per miniute and pressure) is a considera-tion but weight also. Material End Shields

Quick-Flip Side ShieldsEasy up, easy down! As simpleas pulling a pin and flipping upthe side shields. No need toremove and possibly lose theshields - just flip them up andwindrow the rock and debrisoff to the side.

What It DoesMaterial end shields are commonly called side shield. The material between the end shield acting like a boxscraper collecting taking out rocks and debris for deposit at the end of the job site for off site removal or onjob site burial. The end shields may be removed or flipped up for job site preparation. Also by flipping upor removing material, shields will prevent damage to end shields when operating in severe conditions.

Adjustable and Removable Side ShieldsSide Shields may be adjusted to four different positions orremoved entirely for windrowing rock and debris. Spindles on top of the machine provide built in storage.

Material Bars

What It Does: The material bar controls the amount of material flowingthrough the Piranha. In conditions you want to collect rock and debris, set thematerials bar close to rotor, now the Piranha will process the dirt over the rotorand through the machine, collecting the rock and debris between the endshields. In conditions such as sod and long grass open up the material shieldsand let the green material flow through the machine to prevent plugging.

PXT, PXS, PTX, PSXSafety Slider is featured on this series. This built in safety system prevents thematerial bar from damage if machine is overloaded with rocks and debris. How it works: The safety slider will slide up before damge to materials bar mayoccur. To reset the materials bar, just loosen up bolt and reset into position.

PXT, PXS, PTX, PSX offers adjustable material control bar.The material bar adjusts quickly with an easily accessible 2-boltslider assembly. Built in safety slider prevents damage to materialbar if over loading of machine occurs. You can also adjust forvarying soil conditions.


PT & PS offers adjustable materialas control bar.This quick adjust system offers 24 adjustments. Simple as removing a pin andadjusting to the desired setting.

Angle, Manual and Hydraulic

Gauge Wheels



Flip-Up Gauge Wheels: This industrychanging feature provides the productivityand performance landscapers want andneed. Makes for easier storage and trailerhauling. Also, the gauge wheels in the upposition puts the Piranha in the tilling mode.Don’t be without this very important feature!

What It Does: The gauge wheels control the depth of the rotor. Without gauge wheels there would be nocontrol over the rotor to ground contact. Gauge wheels are the key to setting grade and soil processorsperformance. But there is an inherent problem! In some job site conditions you need a more aggressiveprocessing performance. NORTEC has solved this problem with flip-up gauge wheels. Now you may put thePiranha in tilling mode for grinding/tilling/processing those problem areas like job site ground hard spots,areas where trucks are driven on and off the job site compacting the soil. Also there are job site requestsfor gardens, flower beds where a tiller is needed. NO PROBLEM for the Piranha just flip up the gaugewheels and remove or flip up the material side shields and now your in the tilling mode.

The Aggressor tooth is a 1 3/4” carbide tipped tooth engi-neered for the mining industry and NORTEC designed thistooth into our Aggressor rotor. The Aggressor is 50% moreaggressive in hard packed soil conditions and takes 25% lesspower compared to our button tooth style rotor.

NOTE: Due to low sales of the Button carbide tooth and the popularity of theAggressor carbide tooth the Button carbide tooth will be discontinued for 2006.

Construction Rotor Construction rotor is a flat bar design used for small rockremoval and excellent for laying down gravel. Works great onestablished turf where humps and bumps are a problem, justset the construction rotor so the bar is just hitting the turfand level those nuisance bumps out.

How it works? The rotor consists of several flat bars spacedin segements. Because of the segment design only one seg-ment makes contact with the surface. This elemates rotorhop and reduceing horse power requirmrnts.
