(#2.) Matthew 5 Verse 4 “Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” Just like the poor in spirit, there are many that have discovered how sin breaks the heart of God. This toxic substance called, “Sin,” kills, it slays, it destroys eternally, and by it, one is lost forever and ever. That in itself, should cause all of us with a conscience, to weep, wail and mourn. Isaiah 53 Verses 3-4 “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.” (4) “Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.” The strongest of words used in regard to “mourning,” is found in the Greek and relates to mourning for the departed, those who have died. “Klaiein,” is that word, and it means … “to weep, with intense sorrow, which has pieced even the toughest exterior to the heart of hearts.”

  • 4

It give the idea, of those “gut wrenching sobs” that rise up both during the tears and pain. But they endure for a season even after the tears have been cried out! There is a stage I believe in our lives, where we just reach a point, where we never want to do anything to grieve or bring hurt to Jesus anymore! Mark 12 Verse 34(a) “And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, He said unto him, Thou art not far from The Kingdom of God …” Just keep reaching out for Jesus, all else, is secondary: Ever sinned, then grieved with great sobs like a broken hearted child. Feeling so wounded, and sent to bed not knowing how to deal with it. And yet, knowing that as you drift to sleep, the gentle touch of a loving parent who wants to know that you are safe and soothed to sleep. Sometimes, I’ve just needed that cuddle of re-assurance, and He usually does just that, as I drift out of sobbing, and into the comfort of slumber.

  • 5

Yet, just like sleep, you can’t force someone to do it, it just happens. Right there along with the safety of knowing, “Blessed are they …” then the promise, “ … for they shall be comforted and they are!” There is a sorrow, that leads to death, it is the sorrow that causes the heart to literally break. As Jesus, was pieced to the heart by the sorrow of men’s sin, it is believed it caused the issue of both Blood and Water to gush out. The lance of the Roman soldier forced it’s way into His chest cavity, and it revealed what lay hidden from view in our own Master’s Heart. Isaiah 53 Verses 5 & 10-12 “But He [was] wounded for our transgressions, [He was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.”

  • 6

Verses 10-12 “Yet it pleased The LORD to bruise Him; He hath put [Him] to grief: when thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see [His] seed, He shall prolong [His] days, and the pleasure of The LORD shall prosper in His Hand.” (11) “He shall see of the travail of His soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by His knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities.” (12) “Therefore will I divide him [a portion] with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He hath poured out his soul unto death: and He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” The shortest and saddest passage of scripture, is found in John’s Gospel, and it simply says, John 11 Verse 35 “Jesus wept.” The shortest of all, but the greatest when it comes to His Heart! Surely a passage, that would melt even the hardest heart. And yet still, over two thousand years after the event, the passage still echoes in the depths of our hearts … “Jesus wept …!”

He didn’t just go off for a little tear and reflection, Jesus poured out His Heart because His friend Lazarus had died. Yet still, He sees far more than we do … “ .. he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth!” John 11 Verses 38-45 “Jesus therefore again groaning in Himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.” (39) “Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been [dead] four days.” (40) “Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see The Glory of God?” (41) “Then they took away the stone [from the place] where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up [His] Eyes, and said, Father, I thank Thee that Thou hast heard me.” (42) “And I knew that Thou hearest Me always: but because of the people which stand by I said [it], that they may believe that Thou hast sent me.” (43) “And when He thus had spoken, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.” (44) “And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.” (45) “Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on

Him.” “Sorrow,” has within itself, it’s own purity … it is pure and undefiled. It regrets sorely the loss of things done in ignorance, arrogance and tasteless selfishness. It wrenches at the heart in regret that it could have done far better; but for some stupid reason, it didn’t! “Sorrow,” has a value all it’s own. It is never sought out purposely, yet has much to teach. Just ask someone who has lost a dear close friend, a husband or wife or the most heart wrenching of all, a child. Yes, “Jesus wept …!” Psalm 116 Verse 15 “Precious in The Sight of The LORD [is] the death of his saints.” Much is the unexplainable, but it always causes us to pull up sharply and take stock and revalue our position. Unless we are heartless,

sorrow always has it’s place and the comfort, is not far to follow. Though in the midst, it seems like it’s miles and miles away. It’s not too long after “The Cross and The Altar,” that there comes “The Crown!” James 1 Verse 12 “Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive The Crown of Life, which The Lord hath promised to them that Love Him.” Jesus, was moved with “Compassion,” the Greek word, means “moved to the very core of your being.” Luke 7 Verse 47 “Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.” As the woman broke her heart, her tears touched the feet of Him who bent to touch the wounds of her heart. Like him that lay beaten and broken in the dust of the Jericho road, she broke

her heart, He comforted! He poured in both the oil and the wine, and in spite of anything that tries to unsettle, the foundation stands firm and sure! The more that a man is known of Jesus, the more that man knows Him. And the more intimate, the more personal, the more he realises the cost of sin. When you work to satisfy yourself with sin, you work for wages; and sin always has a pay out figure … death!!! The godly sorrow of a repentant heart, is a heart that has entered by “The Narrow Gate,” the gateway called, “Forgiveness.” “Comfort” to the Greek, meant that when a man went to God in true mourning and grieving of heart, he could expect the comfort of “The God

of All Love!” The word, is “Parakalein,” and means “an ally, who is instantly summoned to ones side.” Similar to the word “Parakletos,” which as we know, is the Greek word for The Holy Spirit Himself … our “Comforter:” The word means, “Parakalein,” “The Comforter encourager!” Out of who’s heart flows not only “Love” and “Compassion,” but “Mercy:” Psalm 32 Verses 1-5 “Blessed [is he whose] transgression [is] forgiven, [whose] sin [is] covered.” (2) “Blessed [is] the man unto whom The LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit [there is] no guile.” (3) “When I kept silence, my bones waxed

old through my roaring all the day long.” (4) “For day and night Thy Hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer.” (5) “I acknowledged my sin unto Thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto The LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.” What a Great and wonderful promise to the truly repentant! The Lord not only accepts and receives one back, God treats him with the total trust of one forgiven. What is under “The Blood,” is under “The Blood.” God takes the defeated, back to the fields of past defeats to display them as … “Blood Won Victors!!!” Psalm 30 Verse 5 “For His Anger [endureth but] a moment; in His Favour [is] Life: weeping may endure for a night, but Joy [cometh] in the morning.”

“Do Ye ... !” Copy-right ... personal observations. To those Brethren, that have laboured long and hard in The Word of our God ... we take time to bless them publically for their endeavours to pass on that Holy Ghost inspired Word throughout His Church ... Hebrews 6 Verse 10 “For God [is] not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” Therefore, edify The Body of Christ, encourage and exhort; but remember, if you are tempted to call the work of another your own, you are the one that will in the end be held responsible for your actions. “The Spirit of Grace,” gave the work to the hand of “the scribe,” who faithfully put pen to paper. Plagiarism, is not only illegal, it is immoral; above all, we must ... Romans 12 Verse 10 “[Be] kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;” So we exhort you in the name of our Lord and Saviour, to feel quite free to use the material with which the Lord has so blessed us and those before us, bearing in mind that the pre-eminence belongs to The Lord Jesus Christ Himself ... Your brother and sister in Christ’s service, Bob & Nikki Dalton.
