01/10/11 Mean, Median, Mode
Today’s Plan:-Warm Up-Mean, Median, Mode, Range-Assignment
Learning Target: I will calculate the mean, median, mode, and range of data.
Warm Up
Find the mean, median, mode, and range for the following data set:
6, 5, 3, 6, 8
01/10/11 Mean, Median, Mode
Today’s Plan:-Warm Up-Mean, Median, Mode, Range-Assignment
Learning Target: I will calculate the mean, median, mode, and range of data.
Find the mode, median, range, and mean for the following data set:
3, 5, 6, 6, 8
Mode: 6 Range: 5
Median: 6 Mean: 5.6
The mean is the sum of the data values divided by the number of data items. (AVERAGE)
The median is the middle value, or if not middle the average of the two middle values. (MIDDLE)
The mode is the value or values that occur most often. When all the data values occur the same number of times, there is no mode. (MOST OFTEN)
The range of a set of data is the difference between the greatest and least values. It is used to show the spread of the data in a data set. (HIGHEST – LOWEST)
