    1Local Maintenance TerminalAbout This Chapter

The HUAWEI local maintenance terminal (LMT) is the software that runs over the operation

and maintenance terminal. The LMT communicates with the background administration module

(BAM) on the SRU of the GGSN9811 through the local area network (LAN) or wide area

network (WAN), which enables the operation and maintenance of the GGSN9811.

    1.1 LMT Software

The HUAWEI local maintenance terminal (LMT) software contains the following: LMT, File

Transfer Protocol (FTP) client, FTP server, LMT service manager, trace viewer, monitor viewer,

performance browser tool, and convert management system.

    1.2 Help Systems

The HUAWEI local maintenance terminal (LMT) offers a wide range of effective help systems.

Transfer Protocol (FTP) client, FTP server, LMT service manager, trace viewer, monitor viewer,

performance browser tool, and convert management system.

    1.1.1 Local Maintenance Terminal

The local maintenance terminal (LMT) provides the authority management, alarm management,

device maintenance, and message tracing functions through a graphic user interface (GUI). The

LMT also provides abundant man-machine language (MML) commands with which you can

maintain the device and manage the performance.

    1.1.2 FTP Client

The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client communicates with the FTP server through the FTP

protocol. They exchange the performance data, configuration data, and maintenance data. Thus,

    the service quality is improved.

    1.1.3 FTP Server

The local computer can be used as a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server for access if the

parameters ofthe FTP server are set.

    1.1.4 LMT Service Manager

The local maintenance terminal (LMT) service manager enables the communication between

the LMT software and the SRU. In addition, it can manage the server processes. You do not

need to manually start the LMT service manager.

    1.1.5 Trace Viewer

The trace viewer is used to offline view the saved trace files of which the suffix is .tmf. Thus,

the trace messages can be viewed.

    1.1.6 Monitor Viewer

The monitor viewer is used to review the data and display the state by opening the monitor file

of which the suffix is .mrf.

    1.1.7 Performance Browser Tool

The performance browser tool is used to manage performance measurement tasks and check the

    performance measurement results.

    1.1.8 Convert Management System

The convert management system is used to transfer the alarm to the alarm box. In addition, this

system can transfer the information exchanged between the SRU and the alarm box.
