Next Week’s Word Study

Math: In math we focused more on graphing. We also began our All About the Number books. Ask your child about what we’re doing with them. It’s a great way we explore and break down numbers.

Reading: We read Hunter’s Best Friend at School and talked about correct behaviors in school. We also did a character analysis of Hunter. We discussed what a character analysis is and what it means. We also read This is the Way We Go to School. This served as a great text-to-self connection AND connected to math. The first graders explored our classroom library and learned how to keep it organized. Students chose some books they could Read to Self. Students also read My Best Friend and we extended the text with a Venn diagram partner activity and sequence chart.

Science/Social Studies: We continued discussing rules throughout the week. It is so important we understand the expectations in first grade.
