We kneel to pray…All Faithful God, whose word is life:

Come with saving power to free our praise,Inspire our prayer and shape our livesFor the kingdom of your Son,Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Summary of the LawOur Lord Jesus Christ said: The first commandment is this:‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord; You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’There is no other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

All Amen. Lord, have mercy.

Brian will play music in the background as we reflect on our needs for the Lord’s mercy in our lives

Prayer after Communion:[a moment of silence]

All Father of all,we give you thanks and praise, that when we were still far offyou met us in your Son and brought us home.Dying and living, he declared your love, gave us grace, and opened the gate of glory.May we who share Christ’s body live his risen life;we who drink his cup bring life to others;we whom the Spirit lights give light to the world.Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us,so we and all your children shall be free, and the whole earth live to praise your name;through Christ our Lord.Amen.

Final Blessing:Priest The peace of God, which passes all understanding,

keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God,and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord;and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,be among you and remain with you always.

All Amen.

KyrieLord, have mercy.

All Lord, have mercy.Christ, have mercy.

All Christ, have mercy.Lord, have mercy.

All Lord, have mercy.

The Collect:  O LORD, who has taught us that all our doings without love are worth nothing: Send your Holy Spirit, and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the very bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whosoever lives is counted dead before you: Grant this for your only Son Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

New Testament Reading: 1 Corinthians 13If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

The Gospel: St Luke 18:31-endBefore the Gospel we sing: Glory to you, O Lord“Taking the twelve, he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon. And after flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise.” But they understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said.As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” And he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me recover my sight.” And Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.After the Gospel we sing: Praise to you, O Christ

Gradual Song: Still my soul be stillStill my soul be still and do not fearThough winds of change may rage tomorrowGod is at your side no longer dreadThe fires of unexpected sorrowGod You are my God

Still my soul be still do not be movedBy lesser lights and fleeting shadowsHold on to His ways with shield of faithAgainst temptation's flaming arrows

And I will trust in You and not be shakenLord of peace renewA steadfast spirit within meTo rest in You alone

Still my soul be still do not forsakeThe truth you learned in the beginningWait upon the Lord and hope will riseAs stars appear when day is dimming

The Talk

Agnus DeiAll Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world,

have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, grant us peace.

All We do not presume to come to this your table, O merciful Father,

trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord, whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body and our souls washed through with his precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

The Communion

Baptized persons who are communicant members of other Churches which subscribe to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and are in good standing in their own Church are welcome to Communion. Come forward with faith, hope, and love, discerning the Lord’s body.

Those who do not wish to receive communion are welcome to come forward for a blessing – you may indicate by crossing your arms over your chest at the altar rail.

Communion Medley:

Take me in Take me past the outer courtsAnd through the holy placePast the brazen altarLord I want to see Your facePass me by the crowds of people

So take me in to the Holy of HoliesTake me in by the blood of the Lamb

The priests who sing their praiseI hunger and thirst for Your righteousnessBut it's only found one place

So take me in to the Holy of HoliesTake the coal cleanse my lipsHere I am

- 7 -All glory be to you, our heavenly Father, who, in your tender mercy, gave your only Son our Saviour Jesus Christto suffer death upon the cross for our redemption;who made there by his one oblation of himself once offereda full, perfect and sufficient sacrifice, oblation and satisfactionfor the sins of the whole world;he instituted, and in his holy gospel commanded us to continue,a perpetual memory of his precious death until he comes again.Hear us, merciful Father, we humbly pray, and grant that, by the power of your Holy Spirit,we receiving these gifts of your creation, this bread and this wine, according to your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ’s holy institution,in remembrance of his death and passion, may be partakers of his most blessed body and blood;who, in the same night that he was betrayed, took bread and gave you thanks; he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you;do this in remembrance of me.

In the same way, after supper he took the cup and gave you thanks;he gave it to them, saying:

Drink this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

All Amen.

[a moment of silence]

Let us pray.All Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come; thy will be doneon earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive those who trespass against us.And lead us not into temptation;but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is,seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God,eternally begotten of the Father,God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,begotten, not made,of one Being with the Father;through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Maryand was made man.For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose againin accordance with the Scriptures;he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
