Materials *Paint shirt, or an extra large, long-sleeved, button-down shirt (large enough to cover and protect clothing) or smock will do just fine. Some materials stain and the school nor I will be held responsible for damaged clothing. *Sketchbook, or a notebook with unlined paper, is required. A folder with a collection of organized sketches works well, too. Sketchbooks allow students to practice their creative skills and to exercise their imaginations whenever they are not working on a core art project. By the 8th week of the rotation, I collect them for participation points. Students may be assigned sketches by me, use their own ideas, or use the “sketchbook wall” I’ve put on display. A minimum of 20 sketches is expected, with at least 10 of them in color/value. Effort, variety, and the meeting of requirements is the key, not necessarily talent, to receive credit. 80 points are possible for a completed sketchbook. Supplies Because I am always trying new things, I may kindly ask that students bring in particular items to help them with their projects. Thank you for your support! Please refer to Moodle/School website for updates. Rules for Students’ Safety

• Students are to be in their assigned seats when the bell rings; No walking around during class unless told by the teacher to be at a particular station.

• NO ROUGH-HOUSING will be tolerated as to ensure the safety of all. • Ultimately, each student is responsible for the supplies he or she uses and the area

in which he works. Checkmarks are given out and tallied at the end of a project when the above is not followed. Each checkmark is a point off the individual’s score in the area of responsibility and safety practices.

• Any abuse of fellow peers or equipment by anyone will result in immediate disciplinary action, which includes documentation of the action, a call home, and a detention. Abuse is not tolerated on any level. This of course is first, for the safety of the students and the respect of others.

• Students are not to help themselves to any supplies, storage areas, or drawers without the teacher’s permission.

• Any behavior deemed unacceptable by the handbook/disciplinary form will have consequences including but not limited to phone calls, write ups, conferences, etc.

Grades • This is a course based on effort and discovery, not necessarily talent. Students are

expected to put forth effort, use listening skills, follow directions and safety procedures, and be responsible for cleaning his/her work area and supplies. I have a rubric in place tailored to each assignment that assesses the individual in these areas as well as in the meeting of the art objectives.
