HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR NOVEMBER Dialogue and Reconciliation in the near East

That a spirit of dialogue, encounter, and reconciliation emerge in the Near East, where diverse religious communities share their lives together.

FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR NOVEMBER WORSHIP: In this month of November dedicated to The Holy Souls in Purgatory, we pray especially for the deceased members of St. Peter Church. May St. Peter, our patron, intercede for the grieving and welcome our deceased into the Glory of Heaven

FAITH FORMATION: For the young parents and children of our parish to be renewed in strength and courage against temptation as they seek to love Christ and His Church above all so to become fully alive, reaching the great destiny that humanity has been made for – Heavenly Glory!

EVANGELIZATION: May we be fruitful and effective missionaries of evangelization where Christ Jesus can be witnessed in our humanity as our true King.

SOCIAL JUSTICE: In this month, where as a Nation we celebrate Thanksgiving, may our hearts burn with gratitude for our many

undeserved blessings as we remember those less fortunate than ourselves. BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: In this month, dedicated to Stewardship of Gratitude, may we always remember to support our church parish family with our time, talent and treasure.

LITURGICAL YEAR COMES TO A CLOSE

With the Solemnity of Christ the King comes the end of the Liturgical Year. This final week of Ordinary Time before the Church begins the Season of Advent is an opportune time for prayerful reflection and thanksgiving. We reflect on how we have put to use the graces given to us by our God in the year past and how we may make better use of His gifts in the year to come. As we prepare our hearts for the coming of the Advent and Christmas Seasons, we “give glory to God” for all He has blessed us with as individuals, as families, as a community and as the Parish of St. Peter.

“The Eucharist has been given to us so that our life, like that of Mary, can completely become a Magnificat.”

~Pope Francis

Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, pray for us.

"The Lord manifests Himself to those who stop for some time in peace and humility of heart. If you look in murky and turbulent waters, you cannot see the reflection of your face. If you want to see the face of Christ, stop and collect your thoughts in silence, and close the door of your soul to the noise of external things." ~St. Anthony of Padua

SIGN UP TO SPIRITUALLY ADOPT A BABY TODAY! Adoption Cards Available at the Doors of the Church

Pick up an adoption card at the doors of the church and begin praying daily to save the life of an unborn baby.

To help save the life of an unborn baby, it is recommended an individual say the following daily prayer for a period of nine months.

“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of [baby’s name] the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.”

~ Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

Your Spiritually Adopted Baby’s Development It is the end of the first trimester. By the end of this week, the risk of having a miscarriage drops significantly. The baby now looks like a fully formed person. Inside, more organs are developing. Baby's kidneys are getting ready to produce urine. The baby also has teeth, as well as fingers and toes — complete with nails.

AT TWELVE WEEKS

PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS

Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the Lord. ~Lev 19:16

REFLECTION: A woman who saw the photos of aborted babies on the Priests for Life website wrote

to us, “I am 17 years old and I once was pro-choice, but now I am definitely pro-life because what is happening out there is nothing less than murder. “All women should know the facts before even contemplating an abortion.”

PRAYER: Lord, so many who do violence against life do not know the facts that can save that life. Show me many more ways to share the truth effectively.

SACRED RELICS OF THE SAINTS: TREASURES OF THE CHURCH

Wednesday, December 11th, 6:30pm St. Peter Parish Hall

St. Peter Parish presents a teaching and exposition of Sacred Relics on Wednesday, December 11th at 6:30pm. Father Carlos Martins of the Companions of the Cross will be here with a very special Vatican

collection of over 150 relics, some as old as 2000 years. Among the treasures will be relics of St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux (the “Little Flower"), St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska. In addition, there will also be present a portion of the veil of Our Lady, as well as one of the largest remaining pieces of the True Cross in the world. Those in attendance will be able to examine and venerate each relic. In the Church’s history many miracles and healings have been worked in the presence of relics, and many have been healed through this ministry. You are encouraged to bring your articles of devotion (such as rosaries, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/family members which you will be able to touch to the reliquaries as a means of intercession.

“GAZE UPON JESUS”

STOP, GAZE, & LISTEN

WITH WINE THIS ADVENT!

Do you have vivid memories of Christmas as a child? The Gospels are vague about the childhood of

Jesus, but six key moments in his early life are worth pondering. Grab your glasses for some visio divina “sacred seeing” with WINE (Women In the New Evangelization) this Advent & Christmas season! WINE: Women In the New Evangelization is a ministry of passionate and ridiculously busy women empowering each other to nurture, heal, and build up the body of Christ with our feminine gifts and charisms. Our book club is one way we come together as sisters in Christ to encourage and pray for one another. Join us on December 2nd as we launch this Advent study on the infancy of Christ as seen through the eyes of Mary and other gospel women. The newest WINE book (written by founder Kelly Wahlquist and ten other members) creatively blends scripture, imaginative encounters, virtue studies, and sacred art to help us Gaze Upon Jesus. We will meet in a small group weekly on Monday nights from 7:00pm – 9:00pm to share thoughts from the book readings and insights written in our Gaze Upon Jesus journals. Come prepare your heart for Christmas! Text “Gaze” to 337-205-3917 or contact Erin Dufour @ 337-534-7909 by November 25th to see the childhood of Jesus through new eyes.

Henri J.M. Nouwen, alerts us to the ways that God continues to be with us and helps us be more attuned to God’s surprising presence in our hearts and in our

lives today. You will also find a related biblical verse and a brief thought to start your daily personal prayer. The “Watch for the Lord” Advent Books are available for the Holy Season of Advent weekend to help you, a friend or a loved one to prepare for the birth of The Lord. We request a $1.00 donation per book to help cover the cost of the books. All donations may be placed in the box provided on the booklet table.

DIVINE MERCY MESSAGE “JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU”

St. Faustina: “Advent is approaching. I want to prepare my heart for the coming of the Lord Jesus by silence and recollection of spirit, uniting myself with the Most Holy Mother and faithfully imitating Her virtue of

silence, by which She found pleasure in the eyes of God Himself. I trust that, by Her side, I will persevere in this resolution.” (Diary 1398)

OUTDOOR STATIONS OF THE CROSS IN NEED OF REPAIR

Our Outdoor Stations of the Cross, erected around the year 2006 during Fr. Bill Melancon’s pastorate, are in need of repair. The plaster is turning black and detaching and falling away from the crosses. Work is currently underway to remove the old plaster. Additional volunteers to help expedite this project would be gratefully appreciated. Anyone having some spare time both during the week and/or on weekends can call the parish office to volunteer or simply show up at the worksite. If you have your own hammer and chisel please bring them with you. Otherwise, tools can be provided for you if you let us know you are coming by calling Cindy at the parish office at 896-9408. Donations for the necessary tools and materials for this project are being gratefully accepted. In addition, this project will be our featured project for the upcoming iGiveCatholic campaign. Beginning November 18th, you can visit iGiveCatholic.org to make an advanced day #iGiveCatholic gift or you can “Give Catholic” on #GivingTuesday, December 3rd! You could also save St. Peter the processing fees by using the iGiveCatholic envelopes that will be placed in your pews later in the month.

DEDICATION OF THE BASILICAS OF

SAINTS PETER AND PAUL

[Parish Feast Day – November 18th] The Feast of the Dedication of the Basilicas of Saints Peter and Paul is a spiritual journey to two holy tombs, that of St. Peter and that of St. Paul in Rome. These two basilicas, marking the place of each apostle's martyrdom, are the common heritage and glory of Christendom. The ancient basilica of Saint Peter stood, like the present one, on the hill of Rome called in Latin Mons Vaticanus, at the northwestern extremity of the city, on the right bank of the Tiber. The tomb of Saint Paul is on the Ostian Way, at the southern extremity of the city. Thus, the city is laid out between the two pillars of the Church, the two Apostles who from Rome made the Word of God resound throughout the entire world.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME

In today’s Gospel Jesus suggests that His disciples must be prepared to suffer ridicule, persecution and perhaps even death if they are to follow Him. Sometimes we may wonder if enduring ridicule and scorn are what we really signed up for when we received the sacraments of initiation. Would we not rather sneak through life as painlessly as possible? Good stewards take their faith seriously and find comfort in the closing words of today’s Gospel: “You will be hated by all because of My name but not a hair on your head will be destroyed. By your perseverance you will secure your lives.” Let us make it part of our daily prayer routine to ask the Holy Spirit for the courage to act in Jesus’ name no matter the consequences.

CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Please be generous in this week’s special collection which supports the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the United States, one in six people live in poverty. Through this collection, you support programs that address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for people across the country who struggle. In addition, 25% of the funds we collect will remain in our diocese to fund local antipoverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and work on the margins. Learn more about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection. Envelopes are available in your pews.
