About IoT India 2017According to Nasscom’s IoT India 2016 report, the Government of India aims at ‘transforming the nation into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy’ by building 100 Smart Cities every year for the next five years. Given the committed investments of US$ 1Bn for the Smart Cities project, the IoT industry in India will witness a growth of 28.2% CAGR by 2022. To accommodate this massive urbanisation, India needs to find smarter ways to manage complexities, reduce expenses and increase efficiency through collaboration with Smart Nations over a dedicated platform.

Internet of Things India (IoT India) is a 2-day conference and exhibition to address and harness new insights on emerging trends and technologies to establish strategic direction in India’s IoT space. This platform gathers leading industry experts, aspiring entrepreneurs and rising Start-ups from India and Asia Pacific region.

The inaugural edition of IoT India will focus on the following areas: Smart Cities, Industrial IoT, Robotics, Wearables, Cyber Security, Design Applications, Enablers, and IoT Data Analytics.

IoT India is part of the IoT series of events. Held annually in Singapore since 2014, IoT Asia has been a key industry platform for governments, industries, and technology leaders to foster closer partnerships and in turn create opportunities for the public and private sectors to embrace Internet of Things. Riding on IoT Asia’s success, IoT India will highlight key areas critical to the development and the future of IoT in India.

Concept of IoT in IndiaAs we delve into India’s IoT Policy by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, IoT in India cuts across 3 distinctive elements:

SensorsThe sensor market in India is expected to grow 20% CAGR by 2020, becoming the fastest growing in the Asia-Pacific region.

Design Applications Using design application to collect and analyse big data is vital in pushing the boundaries for data consolidation.

Cyber SecurityTo protect and prevent cyber threats for a smooth transmission of data, especially in the application of IoT in urban development and industries.

With the above 3 elements, India moves closer to its bold initiative of building 100 Smart Cities focusing on both the urban development and proliferation of IoT in the industrial sector.

IoT in WearablesIoT has also triggered “Internet of You” in India by creating the dependency on wearables cutting across fitness, healthcare, lifestyle, and infotainment sectors. From sensor fitted apparels to smart watches and bands, the India wearables market size is set to grow over 173% this fiscal year according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) report.

Wearable devices and solutions are helping big enterprises and SMEs in logistics, manufacturing and transportation industries to enable them to remain competitive in the marketplace. The report also predicted that shipment volumes are expected to experience 42.6% CAGR over the five-year forecast period, reaching 155.7 million units by 2019.
