Video Services now available:
On ibm.com
• GWS Video Service: Is a Flash based player that is integrated within the Enterprise Content management system. It allows you to support easy syndication of media assets and include dynamic video. It also supports the IConS IBM TV templates and can be used to deploy video across ibm.com.
Third-party services:
• Livestream: Is a broadcasting solution that can be used for live, 24/7 linear video and on-demand video. It is ideal for campaigns, live streaming and off-domain distribution, including live streaming within Second Life.
• YouTube: You can also use YouTube to host videos on ibm.com.

General guidelines for video usage on ibm.com:
• Acceptable uses of video:
• Interviews
• Recorded conferences and speeches
• Campaign & marketing spots
• All Content should be:
• Owned by IBM
• Approved by IBM Legal, your marketing focal point or the Brand senior management
• Know the IBM Business Conduct Guidelines. If you have any confusion about whether you ought to publish something online, chances are the BCGs will resolve it. Pay particular attention to what the BCGs have to say about proprietary information, about avoiding misrepresentation and about competing in the field.
• Follow the Social computing guidelines, specially the Executive Summary, they give a good overview of appropriate online social networking guidelines.

Best practices for video usage on ibm.com:
• Launch of video content must be user-initiated. Once a user has launched the video content, the video must begin playing automatically.
• The user must be allowed full control over stopping or dismissing the video presentation.
• When presenting video of extended duration a structure of three-to-five-minute chapters can be used.
• Technical guidelines:
• Acceptable Aspect ratio and window sizes:
• 4:3 (standard): 320x240 or 160x120 or 514x386
• 16:9 (wide screen): 320x180 or 160x90 or 514x289
• Acceptable file formats: .FLV, .MOV, .MPEG, .WMV, .AVI

YouTube usage guidelines:
• Only use the YouTube service if the business is committed to taking down the
video(s) should YouTube begin applying advertisements to them.
• The videos cannot be changed, only deleted and re-posted, which alters the
original URL.
• Posting on YouTube by IBMers in their capacity as IBMers (and without Brand or
other appropriate business approval) is not permitted.
• All content MUST be IBM owned and
• Approved by IBM Legal and\or Brand senior management.

Customizing the embed code.
When generating video embed code on the YouTube Web site:
1. Select grey on grey video player theme
2. Do not include related YouTube videos
3. Do not include YouTube video border
