Introduction to IPGb Function
IPGb refers to a type of networking, which uses the IP transmission
network on the Gb interface as an intermediate network to connect
iBSC and SGSN.
For IP transmission on the Gb interface, we can use the
point-to-point dedicated network (intranet) or a publish IP
transmission network (internet).

Boards Related to IPGb Configuration
IPGB Board
It is BIPI board on the 100M platform; GIPI board, on the 1000M
platform;
It is an interface board for IP Gb, which means to distribute the
data of the user plane and the control plane.
UPPB/UPPB2 Board
It is UPPB board on the 100M platform; GUP2 board on the 1000M
platform;
It is used to process the service data.

Configuration Type
The NSVC configuration methods of IPGb falls into two types: static
configuration and dynamic configuration.
Static configuration is applied when the point-to-point dedicated
network is used. As FR Gb, IP Gb requires a consistent static
configuration between iBSC and SGSN.
Dynamic configuration(or static configuration) is applied when the
public network connection is used on the Gb interface. In this
case, the NS sub-layer provides a set of SNS dynamic flow for the
dynamic configuration.
SGSNiBSCSIZE/CONFIGUE/ADD/DELETE/iBSCSGSNiBSCSGSN
When the dynamic configuration is used, SGSN and iBSC negotiate and
generate the configuration data at the peer end through
SIZE/CONFIGUE/ADD/DELETE flows. The negotiation process follows the
Client/Server configuration model; iBSC is the Client, and SGSN is
the Server. Therefore, the iBSC should be configured with at least
one static port of SGSN, so that the two ends can start the data
negotiation flow.

iBSC first starts the SIZE flow, through which it informs SGSN of
the max number of NSVCs and the max number of IP ports that BSS
supports. When the SIZE flow is completed, iBSC starts the CONFIG
flow, and then SGSN starts the CONFIG flow. The end mark of the
CONFIG flow is the end mark in the SNS_CONFIG message. The normal
service flows cannot start until the CONFIG flows started by both
iBSC and SGSN are completed.

Configuring NSE (2)
NSE ID: It must be the same as that at SGSN side;
Sub-network type: Choose “IP” for IP Gb;
Configuration type: static configuration & dynamic
configuration;
Static configuration is used for the point-to-point dedicated
network; it requires manual configuration for parameter
consistency.
Pre-configured SGSN IP address: It is the IP address of SGSN; it
must be configured, if the dynamic configuration type is
adopted;
Pre-configured SGSN UDP port No.: It is the UDP port No. of SGSN;
it must be configured, if the dynamic configuration type is
adopted;
